Do you play with your own music on missions?
I have two playlists I use in games.
The first is my Industrial Playlist which has bands like Rottersand, VNV Nation, Funker Vogt, Birmingham 6, Flesh Field, Ego Likeness, Die Krupps, Skold, Cruciform Injection, Cubanate, Chemlab, God Module, Bile, etc. Even some Rob Zombie and White Zombie remixes.
The second is my Metal playlist: Alice in Chains, Danzig, (old school) Megadeth, Testament, THERION, Armored Saint, Halford, Judas Priest, Heretic, Grim Reaper, Witchkiller, etc
Guess I'm the only one that doesn't listen to music while playing. Too distracting, I want to hear what's going on in the game, helps me focus on playing. Tried listening to the Cape once, got WAYYY distracted.
I use headphones so as not to disturb the others in the house, maybe I'll give it a shot again, I think the last time I tried it was with speakers. I'm partial to Pandora when I do listen to music online so I'd probably try it with that.
I usually do, and it depends on my mood.
Somedays it's Pandora or bust where I've built a sweet trance folder.
Other times I head to Woot or The Cape when I want to see what they've whipped up for the day.
And then...there is the 24-hour Bollywood music channel that I stumbled upon a year ago. It makes for interesting fights, lemme tell you.
Currently playing:
The Domestic: Broom/WP
Shadowhex: Dark Control/Dark Affinity
Defenestration Lass: Grav/Kin
"See, this is what happens when you have to shove all this stuff into your pockets: it's easy to misplace a suborbital warhead." -Arcanaville, on how crowded our power trays are getting lately
I turn down the music to almost zero before going into missions, especially if it's a long one, and then play some of my music on Windows Media Player. My favorite stuff is from Muse, songs like "Take A Bow" and "Stockholm Syndrome".
Do you put your own music on when playing CoH? If so, what artists? |
But never mind.
When I play my own music during the game, often it's just whatever I have randomized in rhythmbox, on another machine. Lately I've been listening to a lot of Man or Astroman? and Laika and the Cosmonauts.
"Civilization advances by extending the number of important operations which we can perform without thinking of them."
Let me tell you, there's nothing like a good long boss fight with my Belinda Carlisle Pandora station turned up.
This created problems during the live mission event at HeroCon last year, where one of the tasks was to sing/hum the Atlas Park Freedom Plaza music. Nobody in my group could remember it, because none of us had heard it in so long!
I sometimes play my own stuff, but it depends on what the misison is - if it involves glowies, then I prefer to have nothing on, so I can hear them rather than just see them.

I always play with the in game music turned off. I used to play randomized tracks from my music library, but I found it too distracting when something I hadn't heard for a while came on. So now I tend to set up one longish playlist and then listen to it on repeat. Then I can have music going on, but because it's the same stuff over and over it's just background. At the moment, it's about 60 Backstreet Boys tracks, sorted early to current.
