(QoL) More Buff Icons?

Right now, buff/debuff icons allow me to know all of the buffs/debuffs that are on my toon, my pets and even my teammates. Can we get this (optionally) extended to the 'Target' window as well; at least any debuffs that my pets, team and/or I may be hitting them with (with the same options as the other icon windows)?

IMO, I can see RP reasons for not placing buffs (as opposed to debuffs) but would like to see this subverted by having enough +Perception?

Apparently, I play "City of Shakespeare"
*Arc #95278-Gathering the Four Winds -3 step arc; challenging - 5 Ratings/3 Stars (still working out the kinks)
*Arc #177826-Lights, Camera, Scream! - 3 step arc, camp horror; try out in 1st person POV - 35 Ratings/4 Stars

i like this idea, would give the poeple who dont have surveillance or a power analyzer the ability to keep track of whats happening to the enemy

perception has nothing to do with being able to see buffs/debuffs. all it does is let you see foes from farther away and stealthy foes easier.

Currently. Doesn't mean that it can't [be] change[d].

why would they change perception to work like that? it doesn't make any sense. and what do you do about the powers that don't get any +perception? tell them to bad?

I asked Castle for exactly that, a buff/debuff bar for targets, several months ago. He said he passed the request along to the code team. No idea if they approved and are working on it, or disapproved and ignored it, but I still want it. As a TA player, it would make my experience much better if I didn't have to guess when my debuffs were wearing off, or wait for the visual indicators (when they're working, enabled or even visible) to fade.

This isn't about changing perception; it's about getting some buff/debuff icons for the target window so players can track their active debuffs.

The perception portion was a preemptive sidenote towards those that would counter that a player wouldn't (couldn't/shouldn't) know what passive buffs a target had being that it wasn't as obvious as an attack (ie. RP reasons); the player wouldn't need +Perception to see the debuffs he's applied (he knows he's applying them). Otherwise, I'm game for putting buffs into the window as well without having to need anything outside of the option that enables/disables it.

You have a veeerrry narrow perception of perception to say that it couldn't be changed to work like that. Off the top of my head, they use that kind of perception in (notably) X-Men (to some extent in DBZ and Star Wars) as well as parapsychology. Methods of real world perception makes your view irrelevant; as perception is not limited to the eyes (or even the five natural senses. Perception becomes extended through technological amplification of the 5 senses or translated into something the senses can make sense of.

When you apply said definition to the variance and infinite mutability of Origins; perception can be manipulated to visualize a larger picture than you are [normally]capable of.

I know it's not a current game mechanic; so what... neither was the Invention System (or Market); 7 issues ago. Nor are announced systems that haven't made into the game yet. If the Devs so wish it they could defy your sense of sensibility and add in whatever they wish (including allowing +Perception to be used to see/sense an enemy's buffs). They could even ignore this whole entire thread...

As far as players that don't have +Perception... why would I have to tell them anything?

1. It would have no bearing on them being able to opt into seeing debuff icons in the target window.

2. It wouldn't change how they normally play the game.

(And water doesn't have to become ice to cause damage; drowning, high velocity impact, high velocity erosion, boiling and scalding quickly comes to mind )

i never said anything about the icons next to the target screen. but +perception should have never been brought into the conversation at all. it has nothing to do with being able to see buff/debuff of anything.

I'm not opposed to the idea. While it's not something I would value personally, I can see why other people would want it. I honestly already think we have enough buff icons though, so I'd like it if were an optional display, which I'm sure it would be.

I don't like tying it to perception, however, seeing as how controllers and the like are the ones who would WANT such things.

Sorry to revive a dead thread but couldn't find any information on this anywhere... any news as to whether this proposal went forward in any way? I hate guessing at my debuffs Z.z

Thanks.

Huh... How'd I miss that?

I'm very much in agreement with this. Being able to see buff/debuff icons under enemies as I see for myself would be a great way to both track their resistances and see when my own debuffs and control effects are about to expire.
