Free pool power for each AT

With all the proliferation going on the ATs are becoming less unique. Not that proliferation is a bad thing (I agree with it) but the inherit powers aren't really enough to distinguish one AT from another. So one simple solution would be at level 6 or something to get each AT their own free pool power. Here are some examples:

1) Brute - Hasten
2) Corruptor - Assault
3) Defender - Manuevers
4) Scrapper - Boxing
5) Tanker - Provoke
6) Blaster - Hover
7) Mastermind - Recall friend
8) Stalker - Teleport Foe
9) Controller - Aid Other
10) Dominator - Stimulant
11) Kheldian - Grant Invisibility
12) Arachnos Soldier - Combat Jumping

These are just examples. The reason for say Scrappers getting Boxing for free is so they can get Tough/Weave without needing to use up a slot for boxing. Others like Provoke for Tanker is to insure that every tanker has taunt. Other ones like Recall Friend for Mastermind are just nice. And yes these would count for pre-reqs, so in the examples corruptors and defenders could get vengeance easier than the other classes.

It's called APP/PPPs. And the system you suggest is broken in so many ways. I can see that causing absolute flame-war outrage if it was even considered for live.

Even with the Set proliferation, each AT is still unique in its own ways. That's what Inherent is for.

My Blasters want Hasten - why should it go to Brutes? So does my Corruptor and my Scrapper, BTW. The Blasters, Corruptors and Scrappers still have to use a power pick to get it - how is that fair?

My Tanker already has Taunt (both the power and the taunt component in her powers) so Provoke is useless to me. She would like to have Assault instead, please.

My Controller does not want Aid Other (especially the /Emp and the /Rad) - can she substitute something else instead?

See where I'm going with this? Assigning automatic pool powers as you suggest seems to be trying to dictate roles and playstyles to players - which they may or may not want.

Sorry, /unsigned.

I'd much rather see them go "You get one free Power Pool, except Fitness (mostly to mess with people so they can still moan about having to fit fitness into their builds), fully slotted at creation, that unlocks at the required levels, that can't be respeced at all."

So, you pick the Speed Pool right off the bat...

Lvl 6, You automatically unlock Flurry and Hasten
Lvl 14, you automatically unlock Super Speed
Lvl 20, you automatically unlock Whirlwind

OR

They could just limit it to a Travel Power Pool.

I just like the idea, seeing as how I've made alot of concepts that I just said "If I could just get one more power pool!"

Absolutely not.

I realize your ideas there were examples, but as I'm looking through, I'm seeing "That's completely and utterly useless to me" for almost all of them.

No dictating what my characters "need" for power pools, thanks Ensuring tanks take taunt? That's none of your business, thanks. If you feel you need it, take it. Not everyone does. And why would my /Regen scrapper care one bit about taking boxing, tough, or weave with nothing to stack with it? What use would my distinctly non-"healer" Controller have for aid other? Why would my Khelds give a rip about Grant Invisibility?

absolutely, positively 100% /unsigned. no further comment.

Plus... I mean...

Some of those power choices? Ehhhh...

Power Pools are meant to fill holes... giving a Tanker an extra Taunt power is just... Meh.

And TP Foe for a Stalker? ...That would cripple Assassin's strike if you actually used it.

Bad idea. You're trying to dictate roles and playstyles to AT that not all players subscribe to. The ATs are different enough. If some people prefer one over another, similar one, then more power to them. You'll never get all players to play all ATs. And you should never try to.
