Obviously. There hasn't been an announcement that I17 is open beta.

Got the 1A patch took forever but both servers back to saying closed to public.
And now the version number is differnet today?
edit: TR2 is down!
Ya TR2 has been down for awhile.
Hmmm. I think latest time that an announcement would be made it if were goin into OB would be 5pm pst. Thats just a pure guess though. After seeing somethin someone posted on the net that got taken down a little bit later I'm a lil less worried about OB
I wish I had seen it before it was taken down.

Interesting...
So that's why my thread about a couple small I17 issues got deleted? Because I wasn't supposed to see the content yet? That was somehow "my" fault?
mmmmk
Sorry if I seem a bit irritated at that. Nice to know in the future when I spend time writing feedback.

If you were posting about i17 issues, you should have done so in the CLOSED BETA forum.
The reason the thread got deleted had nothing to do with if you were supposed to see the content or not and EVERYTHING to do with where you posted it.
Feedback goes into the CLOSED BETA feedback boards as long as i17 is in CLOSED BETA.

People seriously have yet to figure that out? How sad...
Please notice that this is the OPEN training room forum.

I openly admitted IN the thread that the Open training room forum was probably not the right place to post it in the first place. Trolling forums really isn't my thing these days so yeah, my bad for posting it in the wrong section. What bothered me more then anything was the lack of moderation effort really (no, I'm not calling out the moderators, they do a fine job).
Back in the day when something was posted, admittedly, in the wrong section, it was moved by moderators to the appropriate location. This probably isn't the standard operating policy here though. Might just be easier to delete it then bother with it. That's fine. I've been playing this game for quite a long time, but as far as posting with the community on these forums I'll concede my inexperience. I'll know better next time.
Thank you. Also I apologize to the OP for this little detour.

Normally, the mods will simply lock a thread if it's inappropriate and post why. Closed beta "leaks" (intentional or otherwise) are different. There's an implied-accepted NDA (you don't specifically agree to it, but the notice says "if you play, you agree to this" - so by being on the server, it's implied that you've accepted the NDA). As a result, any posts giving information about stuff in CB are removed pretty unilaterally, since that's a breach (intentional or otherwise) of the NDA, and some leaks have been known to cause severe problems.
I just wish they could do something to forestall all the random "can't get in" "can't update" "upload is taking forever" (but I got the email!!!!) posts. Some form of that might mitigate the accidental leaks (nothing's going to stop the intentional ones.)

True. At the time, the NDA never crossed my mind. The things in my post weren't really sensitive information at all IMO. Most of the post (It wasn't very big) was my attempt at suggesting an adjustment to one of their new in-game costume features. Praise for what they've done and a summary of a login issue I had with a newer transfer (A dominator) to the test server that I couldn't log into test with. *shrug*
You bring up a good point however. One that didn't even occur to me at the time of my posting. Would kind of justify what they did....kinda...

Also, it isn't just Avatea, theOcho and EMpulse (the current OCR team) moderating the forums. There are several non-rednamed Moderators on the forums, and they may simply see a violation (or have it reported) and take action with no notice or comment.
I "think" they have to fill out some type of report on their moderation so that if something is brought up to the OCR team in a complaint they will know what action was taken, who took that action, and why.
And questioning moderator actions is actually against the forum rules. You should PM one of the ones I named earlier to ask why it was removed. If the only offense was posting it in the wrong section, they should be able to rez it and move it to the CB forums.
Of course, it being the weekend they likely won't see or respond to the PM until Monday.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

At this point it's really a non-issue. Something that can slide easily. They did what they had to do and I have a better understanding of why they might have done it. I'm hoping those that are in on the closed beta are having a good time and are able to weed out the potential problems before OB starts.
As long as what we get when it hits live is on par with what we've always received (that being quality updates), I'll be happy.

I think all staff including mods have rednames. Also I think mods are CR staff.
|
I'm talking about moderators with names such as Moderator1, Moderator2, Moderator3, Moderator4, Moderator5, and so on as well as Moderator01, Moderator03, Moderator04, and Moderator06. I'm sure there have been other "unnamed" moderator positions over the years, but they don't post in general. They just quietly do their job and turn in reports to their superiors. I think I recall seeing one post by one of the numbered Moderators previously and IIRC it was while the other Community Reps were out of the office and they moderated a thread, made a post that they were closing the thread, and that was it. But the name isn't red when I look at it. It's green, just like yours and mine. theOcho is a former "unnamed" moderator who worked under Moderator08. He still uses that one for some moderation action so it doesn't spam the Community Digest and doesn't draw attention to the moderation.
As far as whether or not they are part of the OCR team? I don't know. I've just never seen them listed with the OCR team members. Of course, we generally don't see them listed anywhere. The old forums showed us who had moderator privileges on specific forum sections, but I haven't seen it in the vbb forums. It may be here, I just haven't found it. Probably because it's irrelevant to me and I haven't looked for it.
And no, I know of several staff that don't have a redname. For example, The Television has been with Paragon Studios for a while now (2008 IIRC), but only recently got a redname. There are other programmers that don't have rednames, just to name one job area. Some in the Art department have no redname, some in the Design department have no redname, some in the Production department have no redname, as far as I know the clerical staff and HR department don't have rednames. I'm sure there are others. So no, not all staff have a redname.

Not all are what people would consider names however. And they don't show up anywhere on posts, they just quietly moderate the forums, which is their job.

Just because they don't post doesn't mean they do not have red names IIRC one or two have posted and IIRC they had red names...
took ~30 mins for a 3.1 GIG patch. ~11 mins MORE to apply
