What I would like to see is the ability to have a dual archtype. You could swap between archtypes like you do builds, speaking to a trainer.

For example I have a MA/SR who I wrote up as ex-military. It would be cool to be able to use the same toon as a blaster for AR or Dual Pistols.
I have two accounts and have two separate characters who are level-pacted with alternate versions of themselves. One is a DP Blaster who is also a Martial Artist and one is a Brute who doesn't always have his powers, so sometimes he's an AR corruptor. With the copy costume tool, it's really a breeze to do these days but these cats level slooooow. It takes some of the fun out of it.

Ugh. I hate that naming convention. If you *have* to have them have the same name, find a free name with some lower case L's in the body of the word and do the upper case I for lower case L trick. It still sucks and people will have problems sending you tells and inviting you to teams but it looks a lot better.

True. But in all fairness, it really doesn't take much more than a couple hours to learn how to play any powerset combo well.

maybe for some people, but not for all. especially new people.

Don't we have these already? I believe they're called Kheldians?

I know it's a slightly snarky answer but it is true. A Warshade (I've only played a WS) can flit between being a controllerish blapper, a scrappy tank and a nasty floaty Blaster (with ridiculous resistances) in seconds.

Unfortunately something like this will probably never happen. There's a contingent of people who somehow think learning to play a character requires dragging backside through 50 levels of play. I can only imagine how frustrating it would be to try to teach any of these people the simplest of things. But while this philosophy persists being 'handed a level 50 character', so-to-speak, will be viewed as some sort of cardinal sin.

But it may happen, I never thought they would do multiple builds and although people like to say, "never going to happen" a lot on these forums, things tend to eventually happen.
For a long time even the Devs would say the Power Customization wasn't possible now we have it.

However this? I don't see it as a problem, I don't see how it would be hard to do after allowing multiple-builds.

Web-slinging (Never going to happen, even I believe that one.)
Because it would lower subscriptions. There is a distinct lack of endgame content in CoH. The incentive to stay is to create new characters with different powersets since there a thousands of combinations. If my level 50 could have two different sets of powers (2 Primary/2 Secondary which totals 4 powersets) then there would be a loss of incentive for players to hang around.

Heck, it's not that big of a deal just making an alt with a different name. Loads of people do it and don't seem to mind.

Personally, I'd be in favour of this, provided there was a restriction on which powers you can take. If you take fire powers for your Scrapper and want to dual that with a Controller, that Controller can only ever have fire powers, too.

The reason I've suggested this before (and I have) is that I don't think JUST dual builds is enough to overcome specific limitations that ATs are built to face. I CAN make a more solo-friendly build on a Defender, but that build will never be as solo-friendly as even the most team-oriented Scrapper build (that still makes sense). The solution, as I see it, is to let me choose in real(ish) time. When I'm alone, I can play my Scrapper, and when I get a team, I hop over to the nearest trainer and I transform myself into a defender, changing not just my slotting, but the actual nature of my powers.

Let's give a very loose, direct example here, mixing and matching powers for the sake of argument. Suppose I take a Kinetic Melee/Energy Aura Scrapper and decide to dual this with an Energy Blast/Kinetics Defender. My Scrapper could be my offensive form, using my kinetic abilities to hurt people and my energy abilities to protect myself. Swapping over, I would be using my kinetic abilities to boost people's ability to move and enhance their strength, and my energy abilities to shove enemies around.

I realise what the inherent problems of this are. Not all sets have their equivalents, and this does add an extra 50 to everyone who already has one. But short of changing existing ATs to play in a completely different way, this is the only way I can think of to let all players play all ATs.
