Purple Drop change
Thread topic has three words: Purple Drop Change
Discussion has been on purples, drop rates, and whether that's changed. Your example of 7 Nevermelting Ices is a good one, showing that clusters of drops are not necessarily evidence of a change in drop rates. Thanks for contributing meaningfully about how humans interpret or misinterpret random clustering! |
Gratz! I grabbed a purple on the second-last RWZ intro mish from a lousy conscriptor. Second one ever.
Agree with the randomonium.
Random drops are random
With purples i got 2 in a week and then none for 3 months, also last week i rolled 3 merit rewards

I imagine the odds of that are pretty slim (not exactly purple drop info, but you get the point)

Has been said already but to increase your chances of purples, kill more stuff. With 1 person set as an 8 man team your chances for drops will be much higher vs an 8 man team. This is probably why you noticed the increase on a team with only a few members. When I do my normal farm, it is not unusual to get 1 or 2 purples each run. But then again I also have to sell off my recipies about half way through the mish too.
Edit to add -- Of course after I brag about that I get 0 purples on the next run and terrible recipe drop rate overall. The joy of random drops.
I'm waiting,
I'm waiting, For a purple drop, To find me, To find me, Today. Today. Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah Ahhhhhh! I'm waiting, I'm waiting, Today, Toooo-dayyyyyyyyy! |
So it's only 20% embarassing.
I've been running Liberate a lot the past few days. Gotten 4 purples so far. For the amount of runs I've done, it seems about right to me.
One drop every 3~ runs. Sometimes I get 2 in a run, sometimes I go 5 runs without any. Random drops are random, more at 11.

Neither was the post that nethergoat left about orange salvage, but let me guess, youre stuck up his tail like some others to only point out my post. i could care less if it was helpful, it wasnt meant to be. The first one that i left was, though, in case your ignorance missed it. Thank you.

So, let me try to get this straight -- are you saying that you made a comment showing you understand clustering in random distribution, and then a comment claiming that clustering is irrelevant to the thread, and you stand by both comments? And that you meant to be helpful, and then meant to be unhelpful and sarcastic, and also you care enough to keep replying, but you want it to be known that you don't care?
Are you trying to demonstrate randomness through your posting?

total kick to the gut
This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.
It's funny, I just read this thread a couple days ago, then started on my own extremely lucky streak. I'm a casual farmer, and have done 5 BM farm runs over the last week or so, and in those 5 runs, I've picked up 4 purples.
Ran Liberate at 0x6 on my SS/Fire for the first time in months and got an Armageddon proc jumping into one of the first few mobs, and didn't get another set recipe until I got an Air Burst piece on one of the last mobs. Funny how that works.
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."
No, I guess only about 3 months of level 47 soloing.
