What will happen to the tutorials when going rogue hits?

I have been wondering this for awhile. Since we will get the option to start out in the new zone or whatever. Will there be a new tut for heroes as well as villains? Since we are most likely gonna be in the same zone anyway. If we are gonna be stuck with the same old tut then I'm thinking the hero one needs to be updated. Yeah keep the contamination thing for the badge or whatever but add more exciting missions.

Something that really draws you in when you start. When you go to look at it the villain tut is much more fun and just seems like a more exciting way to learn about the game. Just a thought. What do you guys think?

Probably the same thing that happened to the Hero tutorial when the villain one was added. Nothing.

Yeah but there's a difference now. Since people can choose to go in the same zone anyway will there be a hero/villain tutorial or something

There will be a Hero Tutorial, That ends with you in Paragon, A Villain Tutorial, that ends with you in the Rogue Isles and a Praetorian Tutorial that ends with you In Praetoria,

Though I DO recall Posi mentioning something in regards to the tutorials in an interview somewhere, just to fan the flames.

And Kheldians can't run the Praetorian tutorial (and SoA don't even get to do the villain tutorial )

I really hope the other tutorials get a revamp, but Im not holding my breath over it.
The Hero one is just dull. The Villain one needs to not have that cutscene. Seriously, it's not exactly well done.

But, yeah *shrug*

It's also bugged, in that Jenkins isn't emoting assumepositionwall.

From everything I've heard, I firmly believe that the hero and villain tutorials will get a face lift, both to improve the new player experience (even if I have nothing against them, myself) and as part of the "improved 1-20 experience" that we've been promised, which I assume will at least involved the respective tutorials.

Furthermore, the tutorials have been improved, expanded and extended as time went on and technologies evolved. For instance, the original City of Heroes tutorial did not feature Flower Knight at all, being that the game lacked the technology to support companion NPCs, and it didn't include the wall-of-text explanation on enhancements right before Coyote that you get from the info terminal. The contact just gave you a quick run-down and sent you on your way. Coyote himself was added to the tutorial at some point between Launch and I1, as a tribute to a good player who passed away, if I remember correctly. I do know that when Samuel Tow first did his tutorial, that final mission was given to him by Yet Another Cop.

We're seeing the Posi TF improved with I17, and with the expected influx of new players with Going Rogue, it would make sense to update the old tutorials.

I was under the impression that Flower Knight was added to the tutorial before the game originally went live; that it was only during the original beta that the tutorial door mission had just the scientist to save (who turns up again in the Ouroboros version of the mission)

Em. No. Not even close.

From what the developers said at Hero-Con, although it was subject to change, the existing Hero and Villain tutorials were not being changed. So far there has been no indication, either by a red-name post, nor by an off-the-record comment, that the existing tutorials are going to be changed or modified.

A completely NEW tutorial system was being created for Praetoria and Going Rogue, taking into account all of the mistakes the developers made with the Hero and Villain versions, as well as taking into account all of the gameplay changes since those tutorials were made. One of the case examples given was the IO system, which is "tutorialed" in the Universities of Cap and Steel Canyon. With Praetoria, this fundamental system will likely be tutorialed earlier, or will be a bit more extensive to better cover how IO's work.

The developers also flat out stated that the 10 base Hero and Villain archtypes would be able to choose from the new Praetoria tutorial, or the older Hero / Villain tutorials. The Hero and Epic Villain archtypes will have to go through the original Hero / Villain arcs, but will be able to swap morality alignments through the Praetorian alignment change.

The developers also flat out stated that those who chose to go through the Praetoria tutorial could elect to become a Hero without ever having a "Villain / Rogue" assignment, thus qualifying the 5 base Villain archtypes for the "I started a Hero and stayed a Hero" rewards. The opposite of the 5 base Hero Archtypes being able to go Villain without ever having had a Hero / Vigilante assingment was also clarified during the event.

What we don't know, either because the developers did not say, or it just hadn't been decided, is how the Praetoria Tutorial will interact with the Loyalist and Resistance Storylines. We do not know if there will be two separate Praetoria tutorials, with one pertaining to the Resistance and one pertaining to the Loyalists. We do not know if there is just one tutorial and players will have to select a starting Praetoria arc to work through. We don't know if Praetoria arcs will be based on the Hero City style where initial contacts are based on origin, and origin has an influence over what enemies you fight, or if the Praetoria arcs will be based on the Villain City style where you get the same contacts, the same missions, and the same experience over and over and over and over and over and over.

We do know that Praetoria, at minimum, is comprised of enough mission content to take a player from 1 to 20, and it was flat out stated by the developers that at level 20 the players would have to choose to be a Hero or a Villain, and go to the Rogue Isles or go to Paragon City.

This is what caused the confusion on the part of many players that Praetoria was just 1-20 content and that there was nothing else in the expansion, never minding the developers also explicitly stating there would be "morality" arcs in Praetoria to allow players to change sides. Such content that would obviously have to be post-20 in order for existing level 50 characters to swap.

Seriously, none of this stuff is exactly unkown. Almost all of it is found in this existing thread: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=196483

Nope. Flower Knight was a later addition. The Hero tutorial got revamped a few years ago. Nothing major, just pretty much as Sam said: better explanations and the use of an assist NPC to demonstarte the technology.
