End with I17 and GR.

Not going to argue this particular point. It's why my posts tend to be rather verbose when I counter something somebody said. I try to take the time and paint the logical path and the theory behind that path.

That being said...

I kinda agree with Tokyo. I'm pretty sure every post I've seen talking about change someone jumps you if it involves change. I'm not talking about me but some posters in general pretty much throw the OPs into the fire just because they wanted to share an idea. Even some that aren't that crazy.
One of the big issues with many of the threads in the Suggestions and Ideas forum is that so little have had any thought applied to them. A large percentage of threads are generated because another game did something, so if another game did something, this game must do something. Very few posters stop to think about that sort of development response / strategy tanking Planetside, Star Wars Galaxies, and Tabula Rasa.

After a while, it becomes a bit grating. Maybe I can explain it like this:
  • It's one thing to have an idea...
  • It's another thing to have an idea, realize it's incomplete, and ask for help on improving the idea or completing the implementation of that idea...
  • and it's quite another thing entirely to have an idea, not complete it, and just toss it on the forums, and expect everybody to treat it like a complete and whole idea.
Does this help explain why so many Original Posters seem to get jumped for quick shot ideas?

If any changes I would like to see is bases reworked, I know this is probably going to take a lot of work I believe it was said that it would need to be rebuilt from the ground up. However I would like to see the idea come to a good fruition with a good UI and all the right options for building a good functional base for Supergroups to use wether it be for special teaming missions such as SG only content where you can have larger than teams of eight or multiple teams take place in the same mission, or maybe a way to access content for a new way to take on a revamped Giant Monster style task e.g. Hami Raid style against a suped up Jurrasik or even something that roleplayers could use.

I know the Devs had said something along the ideas of working on a base construction system using MA tools as a basis and expanding on the map editing tools.

Another change I would like to see expanding on MA being able to build our own maps.

CoX has always led the way for MMO customisation by the players and I think these would just expanding on this.

I would also like to see a big expansion on content redside low to mid level and also for the H/VEATs starting new characters in these areas always feels like a bit of a slog when you have to repeat the same rigid contacts missions.

But the new additions coming in I17 and GR sound so good I can't wait to give them a try and it feels good to see a lot of these long waited for features including Ultramode coming into the game.

I have so many more things I have ideas about that I would like to see and I have brought them up with devs and discussed them on the boards before, however I still don't see the need to start over with a new game when this one still has so much more room to grow.

OK how bout I give you an example. A recent thread posted talking about the "hurl scrapper" power. The OP posted nothing about how it could be done or how they would do it. YET he was praised. OTHER people said how it can be done. Not the OP. He wasn't jumped at all. Yet if a newer poster were to post their idea they would be jumped and say its a stupid idea for not explaining it. So...yeah.

I presume you mean a tank picking up a scrapper and hurling the scrapper into the middle of a mob?

The difference? That other thread is about adding 1 power that does 1 thing that has been defined by other media. Also, it's an strong staple of comics which would fit nicely in a superhero comic MMO sim.

The OP of this thread simply said give up here and do something else. That is like telling me to quit college and go do construction. Why!? I've paid *money* to further my education. I've invested *time* in what I'm doing now! Throwing all that away *IS STUPID*!

Now if you know me, I'm all for defending suggestions and ideas. I will *ALWAYS* play devil's advocate there. But here, there is no suggestion. No rhyme or reason. If I'm going to quit college to do construction, give me a reason. My mother has cancer and needs the money and my uncle is a contractor and will get me a good starting pay. OKAY! That's an idea!

Now lets here the OP do that with this idea.

I'm not really defending the OPs idea. I just think people can be nicer..thats all. No need to be rude to people for an idea.

I'm pretty much talking about posts in the forum in general. Not the OPs. I can see why people wouldn't want this and I agree but they don't need to completely kill the dude.

That's a pretty good example of how to post a suggestion then. Keep it simple, keep it positive. The OP here went negative pretty fast, and kept going.

I can certainly agree there but it's hard to be nice when your initial intent is rather insulting, i.e. to quit what I'm investing in for something I probably don't want.

Keep the CoH/V servers running...and keep collecting the monthly fees.

Focus all the manpower you can on CoH2.
That was tried... By Jack Emmert and Cryptic Studios. Guess what? The experiment tanked horribly.

I'm with you on that. The OP went all about this the wrong way.

Also right. People argue saying coX's style of attacking is stupid. "Oh on champs you do combos! Not just push buttons"

If you wanted to play WoW why not just play it? Honestly if you want the same thing in coh just put brawl on auto attack and do the same thing :P.

I was waiting for someone to bring this up. Thank you. You've made my day.

This discussion is getting pretty non productive so I'll go ahead and lock it.

While I disagree with direction the OP suggested (City of Heroes still has plenty of life left in it), the suggestion itself is not without merit.

Starting over would allow us to reconsider certain design choices that we are committed to at this point. There are things you just don't change about a product nearing it's sixth birthday. More important than anything else, it would give us a brand new canvas to work with, and there are many great ideas, both suggested by you folks and created here internally, that we are currently constrained from doing by design choices made many years ago.

But given CoH has such potential still, I am glad to say we are not planning on stopping work on it any time soon. We've got lots in store for you folks still no worries. We all plan on being here a long long time.

Thanks,
