What's a good Bots/Traps build?

I've been thinking about respecing my main villain to try and make a really good build, but I'm not really sure where to start. I've heard that Bots/Traps, if played right, can be incredibly powerful, but I don't know if you would neccesarily call my current build that.

So, any suggestions?

Well, knowing what you want to aim for specifically would be a good start. Bots/Traps has gained notoriety for it's exceptional "tankermind" abilities while also having the tools to solo AVs. If that is what you are aiming for, then you should also be looking at picking up all of your Traps powers minus Caltrops, Trip Mine, and Detonator (these would be optional, but still good powers to have if you can take them), the Presence pool for taunt, and long term wise perhaps looking at softcapping your MM.

Oh, well then I guess I'm already well on my way.

That's basically exactly what I have now.

Caltrops is probably one of a /Traps Mastermind's best tools. It's fast recharging, AoE slow + Damage, plus it will typically preoccupy enemies or cause blocking if you dump it in doorways/ at corners, amplifying the potency of the Burn Patches. Heck, without Caltrops, my Mastermind probably couldn't stop the Ambushes in the Cyst ITF mission(Which is fun when you have about three of them stuck in a narrow spot), or keep mobs neatly together after the mezzes wear off. It's a truly underrated power, also works pretty well with Procs on top of all that.

I see you left out the "these would be optional, but still good powers to have if you can take them" bit. Please don't selectively quote people kthnx.

Bots/Traps has the ability to be nigh untouchable. I know that sometimes on full teams with SG, I get sidetracked and end up slaughtering my way off down a corridor, before I get the yell of 'Al; This way, not that way!'

Key pointers;

-Dont bother with the attack powers. No, seriously. I did for a long, long time, and it took me making a build on test to realise just how much you do not need them. They do meh damage, have redrawn and cost way too much end.

-Get Maneuvers and Tactics. Possibly hover, too. Combined with FF gen and your protector bots, your defence can easily edge up to the softcap, and this is without IOs. With IOs? Say hello to mister untouchable.

-Poison Trap, Trip Mine. If you dont get this combo, there is something wrong with you. Poison trap is a monster that renders whole mobs immobile, puking their lunch out. Trip mine just adds GBH to injury, before flinging whats left of them across the room.

Here's what I'm running Alpha on at the moment (not yet complete, some of these pieces are evil to get redside)

I thought I had a pretty good handle on Bots/Traps pre-IOs, but then I read this thread and it blew my mind. Tons of good information there regarding an IO'd Bots/Traps.

You can do some sick things with procs in bots/traps.

I don't know where to put "bit", or "the" but I think you've said enough already. I really expected better from you!

New to Bots/Traps so this is an exploratory build and probably can use improvements. I am guessing way over the soft cap when in game and the Protector bot bubbles me but I was thinking if the bots get wiped I will still be near the soft cap and have some time to get my bots back up? Used some procs but probably could make better use of them. Go easy - its my first Bots/Traps and this is a complicated build with tons of options! OH! I want it to be an AV/GM soloer...

Your build-up proc is much better suited in the Assault Bot, and the Force Feedback proc isn't doing anything in the Protector Bots.

I really prefer to have caltrops and trip mine over the fighting pool...you can reach the soft-cap without it. Plus caltrops can be sweet proc-filled sexiness.

This is what my bot/traps is currently runnings. Its high priced, but there is nothing it can not do PvE wise (outside of AE missions, cuz some of those are just evil) I've solo'ed every single AV the V side content can throw at me, and even taken down a few GMs on my downtime (scrapyard took about 8 mins.. four rotations of acid mortar, and thats with him running around all crazy like when i forgot to taunt)

A Data Chunk would be nice for importing...

I really can't recommend anyone hunt down Enzymes to put in their Protector Bots....if you have them, fine, but they'll fix the defense buff/debuff eventually. One might be good for the end/-tohit for their seekers, and then two regular defense IOs.

I was pretty sure that Castle said the exact opposite, that they can't fix things like that. However, it is an exploit, and therefore it's possible for the Devs to come to your house at any time, kick you in the groin, and take your computer for processing.

It's right there in the EULA.

Really? Last I had heard from Castle was it's not a matter of "if" they fix it, it's "when" they fix it. Maybe he's found out differently since last time I saw him speak about it?

What's this Enzyme business I'm hearing about?

Not an exploit, they have allowed it to become a feature; this does not mean they will not necessarily change it in the future. Refer to posi's statement that accompanied the fourth year anniversary calendar (if you can find it; it got completely lost in the forum migration). This statement came long after Castle's that's quoted on the wiki.

Assuming the Enzyme thingy is allowed how does the following look? (Note: Borrowed heavily from the Sinthix build on the other thread)

Depending on the damage I am thinking about swapping Repair for Detonate, or maybe even Assault or Provoke - what are the thoughts on that?
