Blasters are fun, but keep in mind they are "squishy". They are set up to be played at range. Get too close to your baddies, and expect to be getting a good look at the grain of the flooring.

As for flying... yes, there is the flight pool where you can get the power to fly at lvl 14 (with a pre-req power at lvl 6). BUT to tide you over, you can get a flight pack by doing radio missions in Kings Row once you hit level 5.

  • So, when you hit level 5, take the tram to Kings Row and look for the detective (he should show in your contact list once you zone in). Go to the detective, and he will give you a "radio". The "radio" will appear in your contact list.
  • Do 3 radio missions, then it will tell you to go back and talk to the detective again. He will give you a special mission to protect Atlas Park Bank.
  • Check out the P-wiki page on Safeguards to get some ideas on how to approach this mission. Get a team together for it, folks love the bank mishes.
  • Successfully saving the bank will get everyone on the team a "raptor pack". It will give you 2 hours of flying time (use it well, turn it off when you don't need it, to save up that fly time).
  • Conversely, you could go to KR and just wait around for someone to advertise that they have a bank/safeguard mish, then jump on board that team (but I was never one for waiting around.. lol).

That thread will probably help you a lot as well.

To this 4/4 beat, I'm in time with you. To this 4/4 beat, I would die for you. Your lovesick melody is going to get the best of me tonight, but you won't get to me 'cause I won't sing.

Also if you choose not to do that you can get hover at level 6 which is a prerequisite for the travel power flight. Then you can fight from above. You'll still get knocked down from time to time but when you can shoot them and they can't get within melee to attack you . . . well that's just plain fun.

Heh, my Blaster, Crab, Fortunata, Defender, Controller.. hell, anything that isn't melee all have that Death From Above mentality. It really is a great way to stay alive against foes that have limited ranged abilities.

Hi and welcome to the game. If you're already a paying subscriber, and not a trial account, may I suggest The Mentor Project. The N P C global channel is generally full of knowledgeable vets who are willing to answer any questions you might have, and possibly lend a helping hand as well.

Enjoy your stay.

I get off work approx. 30 mins from now. I plan to be in game in about an hour. If you want, try sending me a tell a @Rajani Isa if you want some company. Since that uses my global name (all names starting with "@" are global handles), while it will give you a message I'm offline or don't exist, the system will keep it for me until I log in.

You can also try joining the Repeat Offenders global channel (more info at www.repeat-offenders.net) by right clicking on a chat window and choosing "join channel" and introduce yourself there.
