How do you handle Shield Charge and Lightning Rod?

I've been patiently playing my SD/Elec tank up for the past couple of months. The time is nigh that I pick up Lightning Rod, and I've been pondering ways I might easily manage the two powers.

I try not to click powers in the power trays because more often than not, they take to long to activate due to not clicking just right and moving around the target. Hence, I use shift+lbutton for my Shield Charge. But now, with two teleport like powers, I need to figure out how to make a decent bind that works for both.

Obviously, I can't make one bind for both powers. Well, I can, but it would require using a bind that both activates the SC/LR on the mouse click and loads up the other bind that changes the same bind to set off the other power (does that make sense?). I'm still trying to figure out how to set that up. Or I could just make it shift+lbutton for one, and ctrl+lbutton for the other.

How do you (or would you) set up the two powers?

I already use "lshift+lbutton" for Shield Charge and was going to try someone elses suggestion of "mousechord" for Lightning Rod. Mousechord, from what I understand, is pressing both mouse buttons at the same time. Haven't tried it yet as I'm still a ways away from LR.

You might try going lshift+lbutton for one, and lctrl+lbutton for the other as a different choice.

Snarky post is snarky.

I prefer something that works better.

Since the targeting reticule is associated with the left mouse button it's simpler/quicker to keep the binds associated with the left mouse button. You left click as part of the bind and you go, instead of having to make an additional left click to to "target" where you go. If that makes sense.....

Make one of them Shift-LClick and one of them Ctrl+LClick maybe?

If I had a SD/ELM, I'd use Shift+L Mouse for SC, Shift+R Mouse to activate LR, then L-click to actually cast it. As it stands, I have both powersets separately, and neither uses TP, so I can just use Shift+L Mouse for SC/LR.

I use Shift + L, R & M (the wheel) mousebuttons w/my toons w/multiple targeted AoE powers. The only inconvenience is that w/the Shift+R/M, you only activate the targeting reticle and have to click again to place the power. My Earth/TA's the worst - Quicksand, Oil Slick, Volcanic Gasses, Earthquake are all targeted AoEs. Good thing he doesn't TP as well. I suppose Ctrl would work too, but I use it as a bind for my Vent chat, and don't like binding Alt to anything.

How do "I" handle it?

I click the buttons on the taskbar. After reading this thread I may try out a bind or two and see if there is any improvement.

Which is why I'm glad I have thumb buttons on my mouse to open the ctrl button up for me.

Personally running a SD/Axe Tanker, Robo is very correct.Clicking the power works.

You remind me of the Government. You want to take something simple and complicate it.

Click....it.......

Funny, it sounds like the government to be too lazy to create/remember a simple bind that makes an operation leaner, faster and more efficient. So you don't use binds for anything? No keyboard shortcuts in your world?

Doing 30 seconds of bind typing so that the rest of the character's play life has a quicker, more efficient use of its powers is being complicated? Seriously?

How many people complain about TP because they have issues with clicking the power and then falling before they can click and point the target before they've fallen below the line of site of the location they were trying to go to? It's the same thing for SC or LR.

If you've reduced your window size too much for easy icon clicking, then you'll have a harder time activating the power when and where you wanted. But, if you have it bound to something like shift+lbutton, then you have it instantly.

If you like clicking icons, good for you. I'm not going to tell you that it's a bad play style decision, because to each their own. So if I'm asking around for good bind options, try not to be offended that I didn't go with your preference to click.
