HELP! Random laptop FREEZING :(

The T60 never had an Nvidia graphics card. IBM says it only shipped with an Intel Integrated graphics chip, or ATi chips.

First, you'll need Driver Sweeper: http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/
This will clean out all of the driver files that are in the computer. Since you have tried to install Nvidia drivers, you'll need to clear both the Nvidia drivers and the ATi drivers, and I'd clear the Intel graphics drivers too.
Second, you'll need mobility modder: http://www.techbeta.org/hardware/ati-mobility-modder/
This will mod the Catalyst driver for installation.
Third, you'll need a driver. I'm going to presume you have the x1300, x1400, or Intel GMA 950 since they were the most common consumer T60 sold.
ATi's last (supporting) driver release was back in March 2009, the 9-3 driver: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownloa...?&lang=English

Now, if you have the Intel GPU, you'll need need to go visit Intel's site: http://www.intel.com/products/chipsets/gma950/index.htm

The first driver didn't work.. I'll visit the site but I don't think I'm going to know what to do. By the way, it said it couldn't find a driver that is compatible with my hardware. Any help?
Which driver am I supposed to download? Intel 945G Express?
And was I supposed to do something with the Driver Fetch after I downloaded it? I just scanned and then did nothing else.

Okay after doing all of this, one more slight problem. "The setup has detected that version 2.08.1110 of CCC is already installed. This setup installs an earlier version of CCC (2.008.1028.2133). You will have to uninstall the previous version before installing this version".
How do I do this?

What's puzzling me here though is how you managed to get an updated Catalyst Control Center installed...

And I have no idea, I just followed the directions on the website :/
I guess after this is done uninstalling I will go back and finish installing the driver.
I'll let you know how this goes.

Yeah, since nVidia blew up my laptop... twice, I'm right there with you. (Though it's more of a design issue with the video chip and MB, still twice in under 3 years, colour me unimpressed.)
Reason I asked about the OP's OS is M$ have nuked a few PC's with their kb977165 update.
By nuked I mean random Blue Screens (BSODs) and similar.

is this the only game you play on this laptop?
A thought just bubbled to my head after Red Valkyrja's post. While Nvidia is known for the exploding laptops... it's possible that if a fan has died in your laptop... your laptop could be overheating and locking up...
Try something out like QuakeLive or looping something like this demo: http://developer.amd.com/Downloads/a...yshop-v1.2.exe
(you may need to login and register on AMD's site to download the Toy Shop demo)

It's also a heavy duty stress test... so if the toy shop demo is able to loop endlessly, then there likely isn't a problem with your graphics driver or your hardware.

Basically, the various rootkits had rewritten certain calls to point to RVAs (Relative Virtual Addresses), pre-calculated addresses specific to the malware. After the patch changed the code, the RVA calls then pointed to different and likely nonsensical locations, causing a BSOD. (Similar in concept to the problem where really old scanner missions can end up with weirdly wrong enemies after a patch that changes the files they point to.)

Question reguarding this graphics card,
How capable is it? I have a laptop with the same chip in it yet to play CoH I have to load it into safe mode to get decent frames, I blame the cpu though, good thing is, its got a complete Socket AM2 ready to go for any chip up to 45 Watts, so my quesion is, If I go with a better cpu, will those graphics improve?

Hi,
For a while now, I've been having issues with my laptop freezing while playing CoX. I have enough memory and everything, but after doing some reading yesterday, I think the problem might be my driver. It's a Microsoft HTS721060G9SA00. My laptop is a Lenovo ThinkPad T60.
I tried downloading a couple different kinds of nVidia drivers (I tried GeForce 200M and 9M, which were just random ones I wanted to try out). After downloading them, I tried restarting, entering Safe Mode on my laptop, going to C:/Windows "nv4*.*" and deleting everything (I read to do this online) and then installing the new driver. But this is where the trouble happened. After almost finishing installing, it says nVidia could not find any drivers that are compatible with my hardware...
I'm almost 100% sure that this problem is due to my driver. And I can't stand freezing in CoX every 5-10 minutes and then having to restart my laptop, log back in, freeze, and then repeat the whole process.
PLEASE, someone help me out!!!
BTW, please try to make your explanations as simple as possible, as I won't be able to understand all that high tech talk
