Reviving a Long Gone SG

I want to try and pick up an old SG that has long since disbanded. My brother left his toons in the SG but the account has not been used in a couple of years. I want to see if I can pick up the SG and bring it back to life. I tried to use the same SG and was told that it already exist and that made me think that if he can reactivate it during the next double experience / free reactivation weekend, he should be able to invite me to the SG and I would be able to take it from there. Am I on the right track or would there be issues with what I’m thinking. Would he have to pay for the account before he could do anything with the SG side of it?

Free reactivation weekend should do the trick. It simply reactivates accounts to full status for a weekend.

That means anything you could do when the account was fully active, you can do for 3 days. Passing an SG to you should be completely feasible.

Remember, keep any inactive, old characters in the SG for the prestige bonus. Unless you plan on immediately bouncing above 15 members.

I was going to keep what ever was in there just for that reason. I would just adjust the permissions in case someone not related to me decided to pick up their account again. If for some reason, I would no longer need them, I could boot them at that time, but that may be a long time off if ever. I'm trying to talk my brother to keep the account active, but he's being difficult. ( Jezz, a new wife and kid and a life is not an excuse for me to accept. )

Thanks again for the help!

The only concern may be if there ARE other active accounts in that SG. They may have the super leader position.

Just an FYI, long inactive SGs and Bases sometimes encounter the bug where either you can't enter the Base or the Base has no power even though Rent is paid or the SG Registrar claims it's already paid up. You'll need to send a Petition in for a GM to fix the problem.

Teams are the number one killer of soloists.

If the guy with the inactive account has permission, get him to drop the inactive leader figure down as much as possible. That might help get the superleader transfered.

Should be no problem. My brother was set as leader before he stopped paying his account. I'm not sure if anyone else has been on since though. It could be that when he logs in his account, another person became leader and kicked everyone out and started rebuilding on their own. My understanding is that most left the sg before hand, but time will tell.

Very good to know! Thank You.

Be prepared for the possibility that someone else has indeed taken over the old group. I have a character in charge of a villain group that I inherited after the last leader went AWOL last summer. No one one has been active in the group for many months except for my alts and friends I've since invited. I haven't kicked any of the old members out, but I'd be reluctant at this point to hand leadership back to anyone else, as I've put a lot of work into the base (the old leader was in the middle of remodeling when he left, and I had to finish the job just to get the place functional again).

That group is on your home server of Champion, so we could even be talking about the same group!

Tangent: That group is also coalitioned with two groups that are no longer active. I visited both bases last year, and both were very large, very well designed, and very well stocked. Both have been closed for months now due to unpaid upkeep. I wonder how many great bases have been mothballed like this? It's a shame.

There's an auto demote feature that prevents SG's from getting into the predicament of a leader that no longer plays. If there were any active members that logged into the game after 45 days they would automatically get leadership. That means it's possible anything could have happened with the SG.

Best of luck tho. I hope it works out in your favor.
