Farming for ME, you do not have other people on your team BECAUSE then you are not FARMING you are TEAMING. Farmers DO NOT share their DROPS with other people, it DEFEATS the purpose of FARMING.

Power leveling is when you TEAM with other people leveling them up for EXP.

FARMING has no EXP involved as you are level 50 already, OR, only in rare cases... You have turned off your EXP so you are farming Dark Astoria... for DROPS.

People who TEAM with others are not farming... Because you are on a TEAM and are SHARING your drops, it completely Defeats the purpose. I do NOT want other people to get MY purples. That is what farming is about. To give someone else the purple is a complete waste of time.

:edit:
You can farm for badges, but that has nothing to do with drops. It is a diff can of worms. This discussion is about farming drops/inf or Exp for PLers.
Okay, that makes much more sense.

In other games, farming was strictly for drops, so the line seemed a little blurred here in COX (since, for a long time we didn't have the ability to turn off XP acquisition, and then, further, we didn't have recipies until many issues into the game).

This perspective, however, is much clearer.

Thank you.

If you cant afford it, you cant have it. If you want it. EARN IT.
So, how long have you been playing? Purples have more than tripled in price (form 60million to 200million) since I14. The price of low end stuff has gone up as well but not by the same amount. Part of this is due to an increase in level 50 earning pwoer so it balances out somewhat but prices are definitely higher. Hence inflation.

He has been playing this game since 1 week before me. I think he doesn't care about the price of tea in China because he has always had more $ than me in this game.

But still, I agree with him. People whined about the process when they were 60 million. Now they whine because we are in a recession? And they can't have what they want rite nao.

I recently took all my $ off of Love Hysteria. Down to 0$ Inf. It took me 4 days to get 750 million.

Is really NOT that hard. Plus, I didn't sell ANYTHING worth over 200,000. I just crafted it and stuck it in the base.

When people team in this game, and talk about how great teaming is. How much fun they have. How awesome their characters are... Then turn around 5 seconds later and gripe that they can't BUY something they OBVIOUSLY don't need to have fun.

WHY??? WHY???

Be that as it may, I interpreted his post as claiming that there isn't inflation going on when this is clearly not true.

This is pure, concentrated wrong.

PvP IO's haven't been around very long, so they are hardly a benchmark for anything. The only thing they prove is that when availability shrinks drastically, prices go WAY up.

Purples are the gold standard of the market. However, purple recipes used to sell for 30 million two years ago. They sell for ten times that now. There have been no real changes in the game to affect their drop rate, outside of the AE craze when normal content was nearly completely abandoned en masse.

Sometimes a change in the game does affect prices. For example, some rare salvage could spike to 6 mil before AE. Due to the ease of earning rare salvage through tickets, they have reduced in price.

However, the earning power of a 50 has been increased (bug fixed), and with the AE craze of insta-50's, a lot of new players had many 50's they could now earn inf with. Hence an explosion of earning potential.

Anyway, I mainly posted here for that opening sentence.

While the fact that someone farms or PLs shouldn't effect the other playersinthe community.

The devs of course have a reason to stop it.

That said, at the same time, the farms/PL that gets curtailed by the devs, shouldn't be ******* and whined about, by those who do the farms/PLing. :P But they do. Look at AE. Devs stopped it, and whoa was their alot of ******** and whining.

My husband and I, never farmed the AE. We never did anything with that. He doesnt even make stuff up in it. So I am sure when he posts that he doesnt think about that at all. Purples should have never been only 30 million. You can make that much in 1 afternoon.

Supply and demand, they used to go for 30-60million because that was what the market would support. We can discuss the reasons (less interest in them, fewer people playing level 50s, higher prices on other IOs leaving less available inf for them) but that fact was prior to I13 the market prices of purples were stable at those levels. Since there was generally supply available it seems safe to conclude that the demand would not really support higher prices.

The changes to the game since then have lowered supply a bit (due to AE farming as a partial replacement for regular farming) and increased demand (more level 50s being played, merits and tickets lowered the prices on a lot of mid-range IOs freeing up more inf for purples). In addition the earning power of a level 50 increased dramatically (both the bug fix and the new difficulty settings) so the value of 1inf has dropped.

Yeah, I make that in an hour easy from just inf alone.

But there was a time when there weren't many players out there capable of doing this, and very few players out there willing to spend even 30 million inf. Now, even designing an effective 100 mil inf IO build is incredibly difficult when you start adding up salvage and crafting costs onto the recipes.

As Adeon already said, supply and demand.

If I had the inf I had two years ago, I would have bought every single purple on the market, but two years ago, I was just starting the game and 30 million seemed like a ton of inf, and IO'ing a single power for 150 million seemed absurd. Now, my apoc set I wanted redside was 1.5 bil to 5-slot, because I wanted it within 72 hours.

Oh how times change.
