the elec secondary on blasters is pretty strong
on the dmg toggle, i would say its not necessary unless you want to slot it
power sink is excellent to get your end back after a nuke
and it has a hold power you could stack with another power (an elec/elec/elec blaster can poentially have up to 3 holds (total 9 mag))
I've done 2 elec/elec/elec blasters to 50 and it was tons of fun both times.
The damage aura is a definite must have. Since most of the secondary is melee, the extra ticks of damage help kill things faster. Slotting it with 3 end reducers, the Obliteration and Positron procs make it shine.
Between the patron resist shields and Tough, you can get about a 47% S/L resist and blap with the best of them. I personally would like the resist rather than trying to fight an interrupt for Aid Self.
I strongly disagree with Mr. Heat Stroke on the Elec aura. The melee damage is spectacular- I think everyone agrees on that.
Edit: more generally, Ice gives good protection (-rech in Shiver is huge, and ice patch is good). Mental gives ranged and melee AOE plus a couple good utilities. So there are other secondaries out there that I would recommend heartily.

I disagree with Mr Heat Stroke as well (in general), but I think he is referencing just a certain play style with Elec/Elec. I don't see the OP specifying a build or playstyle.

Im curious about Electric secondary. im wondering if people have tips regarding using it, also if the damage aura is worth taking? Or if its more of an IO mule? Does anyone enjoy using it? I also would not recommend taking the dmg aura, it is an end hog, and you should be mixing ranged and melee attacks enough that the damage ticks won't add up nearly as much as having the end to fire off attakcs. YMMV
Key powers to take from /Elec are Charged Brawl, Havok Punch, Build Up, Power Sink, and Shocking Grasp. I'd say Skip Lightning Field and Lightning Clap (unless you are going to mule them out) and If you can fit Thunderstrike go for it, but its not necessary.
However if you really want to try something different I whole heartedly suggest a /Mental blaster. Ice/MM has reinvigorated my deep seeded blasting love.

Sure, the devs are supposed to listen to their customers, mister business 101 out there. And if I decide to start suggesting that the devs change the game from being about superheroes and supervillains to being about clowns that is my right as well, and technically Paragon Studios is supposed to pay attention to me. But I hope strongly that they assume a meth-head somehow managed to hack into my forum account and make paper airplanes out of my posts, because I hope they recognize stupid when they see it. I assume they will recognize futile just as accurately.
