The loading bar is primarily an indication of your computers ability to load the data so suhtting down other programs that you have running in th ebackground should help. Freedom doesn't generally lag more than the other servers but Freedom and Virtue both have a much higher population so you might want to try one fo the other servers and see if that helps.

My bar moved much faster when I upgraded my processor and RAM, even while connecting to the same server on the same time of day. (I play on Freedom also.)
Like Adeon Hawkwood said, Freedom is one of the highest populations, so it may be possible your system doesn't like a bunch of players being around while you are trying to zone in. Then again, if it does the same thing while you are tying to zone into a mission (where no other players would be), then you can't use that excuse, and you'd probably get the same behavior from other servers too.

EDIT: And as Adeon mentioned, having a lot of things running in the background sucking up memory could also contribute to CoH loading slowly.

Also, to address the "played many other MMOs" comment, CoX has better graphics (and will soon have better graphics still) and thus takes more memory and higher specs to play than, say, a certain other popular MMO that uses a more stylized cartoonish graphics scheme. Wow.

Agreed. CoH demands a lot from the computer, even though it was released five years ago. Shutting down other programs or adding more RAM will reduce load times.

All that said, yesterday night [01/19/10] sucked. I don't know if it happened in all the zones, but SC got Mapserved, I guess around 9ish.
Loads were slow, and I don't mean the bar moving, I mean to start.
Also different stuff loads at different speeds. One toon of mine is in a mega-SG that has decorations stacked to the ceilings. It takes my computer quite a while to load all that crap. It's also ugly as sin to move around in, and I have my graphics slider all the way right and it suffers from pop-up.
Differnt people/time/mish/etc different load times. I tend to load fast and wait for everyone to get in.
