Some new bits and pieces
Congrats Vex!
I was thinking it might be an issue with spacing too, but if it isn't, could you post an example of this patchy effect? Thanks Johnny for the tip on turning spacing off for blending. I don't use photoshop for painting anymore, but I will have to remember to try that if I start using it again.

I just saw that a minute ago on DA. Very nice, Bindweed.
And gratz, VexXxa!
Just added a few more pieces to my DA page - Kat and Terra have already posted their pieces, but I don't think this piece has been foisted on the forum before. A commission for WhamBamBoom of his brute:
I also wanted to poke a few possible passers-by, as I'm about 30 away from 10,000 pageviews on DA
It's probably not much to some of the DA veterans out there, but it seems a lot to me!
AWESOME piece, BW!! The details are amazing!!

It's been a while since I inflicted anything on folks 'round here, because there's been some pesky Real Life shenanigans that had us all a little anxious for a while and had me running around like a headless chicken, and with as much productive effort as such a thing. Anyway, I've finally dropped something into DA again. I wasn't going to post this particular piece, since it was originally an abandoned commission. But I want to improve my Photoshop "skills" (I try not to laugh when I use those words together), and so this is going to be the starting point for a series of WIP pieces that may help solicit helpful advice as I go along, or may just end up such a mess that Adobe will have to hire ninjas to stop me. Anyway, here's the thing:
EDIT: D'oh! This is what you get for trying to do these things with abandoned pieces - you forget to finish them completely! I've just realised I haven't finished adding some bits and pieces - mainly the big, billowing cape that was there inone of the pencil versions...
Haven't seen you in a while, BW!! I totally love your current piece!

Wow Bindweed, that last one was... wow. The action, the detail, the expression. That girl... really do not like the other one!

In Photoshop, in the brush palette (I think this is in CS2 as well) there are a few features here that can help with the "patchy" skipping brush. In the "Brush Tip Shape", then check "Spacing", try putting a smaller number value in there like 10%. That number should generate "fill-in" between the patchy or skipping effect you are getting with your brush. If you are painting while zoomed in, you can even try with the spacing unchecked (off). However, when you zoom out and paint and then zoom back in, you may see those patches/skips again. I tend to use the spacing around 10% to 25% for the paint brush. I actually turn it off on the smudge tool when I use it as a blender - not sure why but the spacing setting seems to do weird things to the blender.

This pic may explain it better (this is from CS3):
I have in the pic "Spacing" at 25%, but typically I will keep it at 10%. I also have "Other Dynamics" checked which can help with a more natural flow in regards to pen pressure.
Hope this helps.
Oh, and SWEET VexXxa!
