Illusionist Badge?

Does this badge actually do anything? The text reads, "You have learned enough from fighting the Illusionists of the Carnival of Shadows to know the real from the fake". I was excited when I got it because I thought it would affect either the number of decoy phantasms, fake illusionists, or fake damage I take from illusionists. After fighting a boatload more Carnies, I've noticed nothing. I don't really mind if it's just a "way to go you defeated 100 illusionists" badge, but the text seems misleading.

I believe it unlocks a new custom weapon, namely the carnival mallet for the War Mace set. I have a toon I really want this for, but I'm not sure if I really want the headache of fighting all those illusionists to get it.

Not sure if there are any other benefits, but the wiki would have the info.

Edit: According to the wiki, you also unlock the strongman gladiator badge when you get this badge.

It goes towards eye of the magus accolade, which is very powerful.

OK, good to know. I do find the text to be misleading but I'll just have to get over it. Thanks for the info.

I assume the text is just there to provide flavor, but it does seem to imply a direct in-game benefit. I can see where it would be misleading.

A lot of badge text is like that really.

Illusionist is much easier to get than it used to be. Once upon a time you needed to defeat 100 phantasms. These days, the three Illusionists that the Master summons, along with her Dark Servant, all count toward the badge, and you only have to damage the illusionists to get credit for the kill once they despawn.

This means you can get 5 kills toward the badge per Master Illusionist encounter, or, if you keep her alive, per cycle of her powers (every 4-5 minutes roughly). A mission full of Master Illusionists will get you a huge chunk of this badge, or two people farming in tandem in PI off two different illusionists can accomplish it in 30-40 minutes.

Actually the previous requirement was to kill 500 and only the summoned Illusionists counted. I16 dropped the requirement to 100 and added the phantasms and dark servants to the allowed kills list.

As previously stated, the Eye of the Magus Accolade gives you a useful power, although with a 25minute unenhanceable recharge. It's a good "OMFG!" button.

Getting the Illusionist badge used to be a major hurdle for this.

www.paragonwiki.com is a great source of information for this game.

You are correct that only the summoned illusionists counted (and the other guys count also now).
The number, however, has changed more than once. It was 200, then 500, now 100.

I'm fairly certain that Hasten, set bonuses, and other forms of global recharge speed up all the click accolades. I've never tested it, but they seem to come back quicker on my high-recharge toons, and I've heard others make the same claim.

This is correct. Between Hasten, global recharge bonuses, and the 60 second 100% recharge buff from Geas of the Kind Ones, I can have Eye of the Magus up every 10 minutes or so on my AR/EM blaster.

I believe this is correct. However, some special powers (some booster pack powers, some vet rewards, some tier 9 set powers) ignore all recharge buffs.
