Phasing/Foe Capture + Trip Mine

Does a phased enemy cause a Trip Mine to detonate or will it simply ignore the person who is phased. Considering the amount of hate Dimension Shift gets, I'm wondering just how feasible it is to Shift some enemies, have a teammate set a mine, then wait for the phase timing to end for the enemies to exit and explode. On the reverse, if you have the power pool Phase Shift and drop mines then what happens then?

I'm also curious on how this affects the rest of Traps and how this affects some of the locational AOEs in Trick Arrow.

While I haven't specifically tested with Trip Mine, I would imagine that it would explode (with no effect) on the phased enemy. I base this assumption on the fact that NPCs (both enemy critters and player pets alike) will attack phased targets at will, and won't stop just because they aren't accomplishing anything.

Try using trip mine while Invis or even Rest is on, for the Phase shift question. That would probably answer the Phase shift one. I know Self Destruct works while resting. On you. (I COULD OF REZZED FROM THE XP IF I TURNED OF REST FIRST. KAAAAAAAAAAAAAHN!)

Self phase wouldn't help answer the question, and Self Destruction isn't a good comparision, since Trip Mine is a pet.

My point, however, is that all three of those powers (Invis, Rest, and Phase Shift) are "AFFECTING SELF ONLY" powers. And Self Destruct works the same under all of them. I know I am unable to summon henchmen while resting, can't recall if I've tried to summon my FFG while resting though.

A phased enemy will still trigger the mines, but won't be damaged.

My point is that nearly every non-pet power can be activated while you're phased yourself, but many (all?) pet powers cannot, so using Self Destruction as an example is a bad one. Additionally, the OP asked if Trip Mine would be triggered by a phased enemy... so discussion about using Self Destruction while self-phased is not really relevant.

Wow, I was just considering this very same sort of question this morning before bed! I've never had a phase power so I have no idea how they work out.

So if I was phased, my foes were not and I set a trip-mine, what would happen? What about if I put out my acid mortar while phased? Seeker drones, caltrops?

What if the foes were phased and I wasn't? Sounds like these things would all still attack... but would the phased foes flee caltrops like they always do when unphased?

Okay, so maybe I should rephrase what I said.

Self Destruct (which I understand isn't a pet-type power, unlike henchmen, FFG, or trip mines) operates the same under the effects of Invis, Rest, and Phase Shift - all of which are "Affect Only Self" powers. I know I am unable to summon henchmen or my FFG while resting, therefore it follows that you would be unable to lay a trip mine while phased.

I could of sworn Phase Shift hits you with "Affects Only Self" - apparently, it doesn't. Either it used to, or I am thinking of a phased shift clone that also hits you with AOS. Just used my Bots/Traps second build (don't have trip mine yet, but did take everything up to Seeker Drones) and was able to place everything, pretty much.

So it looks like you could Trip mine them.

EDIT: I was also able to buff my bots while phased, and My FFG affected me, my bot, but not the guy standing next to me. Not until after the phase left, anyway.

Incorrect.
My /traps corruptor runs with a /sonic corr who likes to use Sonic Cage. A lot.

If there is only the one enemy around (caged), and I place a Trip Mine at its feet, it will tick and display "UNNAFFECTED" for the duration of the cage. Once the cage drops, the bomb can be triggered.

Awesome. In theory it means that the generally hated foe captures actually have a fair amount of synergy with Traps, Devices, and maybe even Trick Arrow (not sure on the last one).

MMs have an intriguing quirk with phasing that I noticed when I used my Warburg temp. Phasing self will affect all henchmen but not teammates, effectively making it Affects Only "Us" in a funky symbiotic sense. This is probably done as a balance point so a MM can't make themselves INVIIIIIINCIBLE (twirl mustache and cue evil laugh...) while pets with damage based abilities reek havoc.
