Frankenslotting?
the idea is to maximise the acutal enhancement values
A typical franekenslotting build will use
Acc/dam/recharge from 2-3 sets
Then
acc/dam/end from another couple
then a dam/rech or two to round out
specific example
Ruin - Accuracy/Endurance/Recharge:
Devastation - Accuracy/Damage/Endurance/Recharge:
Devastation - Accuracy/Damage/Recharge:
Thunderstrike - Accuracy/Damage/Endurance:
Thunderstrike - Damage/Endurance/Recharge:
Thunderstrike - Accuracy/Damage/Recharge:
Minimal set bonuses, but very strong in acc dam and recharge with good end reduction

Basically, "frankenslotting" refers to the practice of using multiple types of enhancements in a power without regard for set bonuses in order to maximize the performance of that power in some specific way(s).
As always, the wiki knows pretty much all...

I have a miniguide in my sig to it.

Sniper powers is a good example of something you might want to Frakenslot because there are so many aspects that you want to enhance: ACC, DAM, Interrupt Reduction, Range, Recharge, and even some Endurance Reductions. But the Sniper sets don't cover it all (at least, not as much as I want it to). And so, if you use the triple aspect IOs from different sets, you give up you Set Bonuses, but you gain *a lot* of enhancing.
E.g., my Dark Defender has the snipe power, Moombeam slotted,
- Extreme Measures: ACC/Interrupt/Range
- Extreme Measures: ACC/Range/Recharge
- Executioner's Contract: Damage/Range
- Executioner's Contract: Damage/Recharge
- Sting of the Manticore: ACC/Interrupt/Range
- Sting of the Manticore: DAM/Interrupt/Range
This gives:
- ACC: 63.6%
- DAM: 73.7% (pre-ED 74.2)
- Interrupt: 76.4%
- Range: 52% (pre-ED 54%)
- Recharge: 69%
That's 334.7% worth of enhancement.
Six IOs (ACC, DAM, Recharge, Range, 2xInterrupt) would have only been 252% worth of enhancements.
Sting of the Manticore would have been 293% worth of of enhancements looking like this:
- ACC: 47.7%
- DAM: 91.78% (pre-ED 95.4%)
- Interrupt: 50.9%
- Range: 12.75%
- Recharge: 42.4%
- End Redux: 42.4%
Which is a lot less Range, Recharge, and Interrupt Redux that I wanted (with a lot of Interrupt Redux, a snipe can be used often in battle rather than just a lead-off shot).
Besides, my Frankenslotting still gives me the bonuses of: 1.5% Recovery; 2% Recovery; and, 12% Regeneration. That extra Recovery is worth not slotting for End Redux.

Oh, and one of the main benefits of frankenslotting is that it's so cheap. Most people buy IO's for the set bonuses, so the IO's that don't have good set bonuses tend to be less expensive. You can often buy IO's for less than you would spend on SO's, but get much better numbers in your powers.

Not to mention focusing on getting set bonuses just for the sake of it tends to gimp the builds of less experienced players. In other words, generally speaking, players should primarily focus on maximizing the effectiveness of each individual power, rather than worrying so much about completing entire IO sets.

A build that makes extensive use of set bonuses is not necessarily "gimp", and I think that generally speaking players should focus on whatever they think will make their toon the most effective for whatever use they have in mind.

This is a completely noob question but I've seen the term "frankenslot" used a lot throughout the forums but I still do not understand exactly what it is. So what does frankenslot mean and are there any particular strategies to it?
