Hover and pets

Howdy all! *waves*

I'm sure this has been hashed out, but the awful search engine in this thing is... well, awful.

Is there a known issue regarding hovering and casting a Vet Pet? I have a character who just got hover, and can't cast the Vet Pet without being on the ground.

I understand certain ground based powers need this, but a pet? Odd.

Just curious. I'm dealin' with it, but still... it's not... right, in my opinion...

Thanks!

Not a bug. WAI. Vet pets are only castable when on the ground, in a similar way to Ourob portals.

And to answer your other implicit question: Yes, the rules for casting pets is haphazard with no internal logic or consistency.

I can summon a Dark Servant into mid-air while hovering.

Some other summons require being grounded, other require the targeting reticle being grounded, and some require both.

It's a mess and no Dev has responded to that inconsistency that I know of.

(Still not diggin' the "Quick Reply" button thing)

Not to be contrary, but I highly doubt it's WAI. It's more "thrown into this bin of things, so it's just the way it is." feeling to me. Other things can be cast in hover. Doesn't make any sense, as has been mentioned. Ah well. I's just curious.

Powers seem to come in four varieties:
1) Powers that can be cast while airborne, at an airborne target. Most powers are in this category.
2) Powers that can be cast while airborne, at a grounded target. Most pet and pseudo-pet summons are in this category.
3) Powers that can be cast while airborne but in contact with the ground. The only one I've found is Gun Drone, but there are probably others.
4) Powers that cannot be cast while airborne. The Ouro portal is one of these, as is "throw snowball".

FF gen also requires targetting the ground, which is very annoying.

Technically, probably working as intended. But it's not clear why it should work this way, or what is wrong if we can cast pets while hovering close to the ground.

Part of it is a matter of animations. A "mid air casting" animation for a particular power may simply not have been designed and implemented. Part of it is a design decision behind that particular power.
