Robot Traps Mastermind and Issue#16

Hi, I play Gidget on Virtue. I love Robot Trap Masterminds and I play one as my main character. I didn’t feel the love with issue 16 and if you have ever gone in to an image designer with a Robot Traps Mastermind since issue 16 you will see why. It has been a while and I still have not seen any attention given to my beloved class. Are there any plans to give Robot Traps some individuality and attention?

Has anyone heard anything solid?

Traps can be recolored, bots not so much.

Traps the changes you can make are not even noticeable for few traps I have and like most masterminds most of my powers are into my minions.

Compared to the hype, I defiantly don’t feel the love as a player that was excited about the promise of customization. I’m not asking to make my minions look like different robots, but even Zombie masterminds can change the color of summoning them in at least. How come I can’t have solid black bots or at least have them come in to play with some style. So because of my power set I’m not important enough to get any attention? I would just like to know it’s at least getting worked on and not shoved so far on the back burner that there is no hope.

It's getting worked on. So sit down and be patient like the rest of us. Afaik, MM customisation isnt coming until they've given it a LOT of options. We're talking more than just recolours here, although t'hell with me if I can find the Dev post. Im pretty sure I remember that being the case though.

It is also apparently more complicated than the recolouring of standard powers. Behind the scenes the mechanics are very different.

Sadly both my fave AT's (MM's and Khelds) are very limited in customisation, and I expect them both to be resolved at the same time whenever that may be (After GR I suspect).

Note that most of the Traps coloring will be on the effect of the trap, rather than the trap itself. So, for example, while your Acid Mortar doesn't look any different, the delightful little balls of acid that it pops out will. However, since the character builder only shows the initial animation, you can't see that when you're actually setting everything.

As for bot-customizing, I recall BaBs saying something to the effect of sets with weapons having to clear some other hurdle before they can be customized (cue BaBs coming in and telling me I took something completely out of context in 3...2...). If that's the case, since Robotics gets the laser cannon, it may be less feasible to expect much customization to become available.

I agree the emphasis now is on Going Rogue with the creative people. Perhaps they will make concentrated efforts to individualize certain sets like masterminds and kheldians in the same fashion and timing they do with power proliferation.

HelinCarnate:OMG it is so terrible. I have the option to take 3 more powers but no additional slots. Boo F'ing hoo.

The problem here is the models. Current they can't be recolored or replaced. You're in the same boat as Kheldians and Stone Tankers with GA. All of these ATs are waiting for more options, so you're not the only Oliver Twist out there

Well, once CO features Pet customization(and useful pets), Co* will move it from, "the engine has its limitations" category to, "We're craming it into the next issue" category.

I think alternate models could be neat if customizing the pet's powers is a big messy bundle of timesink. Some tattooed Tsoo-type asian thugs for Ninjas instead of the generic ninja ninja...get some Clockwork or Nemesis type bots instead of default bots...Vahz type scientific zombies for Zombeh!...Family/Mook type goons for Thugs...uhh. Mercs? Different armor/fatigues?

I think that all complaints about Ninjas would go out the window when compared to the Sky Raider Mastermind, who's Henchmen teleport all over the map, aggroing mobs and leaving the Mastermind completely exposed.
