~*~GALLERY of ROGUES~*~
I had a lot of fun tonight while I was there, definitely enjoyed getting to know you guys.
As for switching to Ventrilo, I'm pretty sure EnnVee and I have a mostly empty server we can let you guys use. Also this way no ones computer suffers from massive overuse due to hosting skype.
PM EnnVee or potentially me if you want more info.
It was definitely fun chattin with you all tonite. Vent sounds good to me if it is more conducive, just so long as we can all enjoy our fun time!

Now, now, I was only even able to get it this far along thanks to some donations. (The Inf->Prestige conversion rate is still LUDICRUS.)

Thanks Scooter! I have Vent and can join on the audible goodness now!
Oh, and I can't believe how fast my villain is leveling up with you guys! You make being evil an artform

Me either, that was the fastest I've ever gotten to 12 on a villain.
Forgot what it was like being poor though. Couldn't scrape enough together to load out with DOs
Apologies to the non-voice chatting people. There's talk of switching to vent instead of skype so more people can join in on the fun.

I'm in the no-mic boat as well, but I'm perfectly happy typing my little comments out in the ether, so there's that.
Just a suggestion. I know it's second best, but one thing I've done when I've lost a mic is at least turn on vent to listen in, and you can type your responses to whatever shenanigans we have. However if you don't wanna do that it's cool.
That and I think it's about time we spread some holiday cheer and perhaps start a give people microphones fund. I actually know about a really great headset (wish I stil had mine, it lasted me several years of heavy use) for really cheap at Amazon. Find them here.
The just listening is definitely helpful if there are a couple people on a team without a mic when most are using Vent/TS/whathaveyou. Been there, done that =)
I've never been one to use voice chat in games.
It is a shame when the text dries up and the majority are using voice chat.
It's not a matter of saying anything is wrong with that.
It just doesn't ever seem to match my situation well.
- I generally don't like hearing people making a ruckus (Based on a lot of the conversations I experience, listening to it while I am playing is possibly even worse than "ruckus"... no offense!)
- I play late at night and sometimes, even though I have the game sounds on at a good enough level to hear it and all, me speaking could be a bit too loud (Actually, I have a rather loud booming voice, I guess that is the main culprit)
- The majority of the time, I do play for the immersion aspect above most everything else. While some may think reading and typing can take away from that (And maybe for them this is true), for myself, typing and reading is quick and easy and doesn't deter any immersion, but more importantly the player voices and characters not matching up and such is a funny thing (Not always in a good way)... even more so... I really dislike communicating through a medium that others present in the game cannot hear/see/interact with. I often like to talk in local (Yes, even when on a team!) in public. No... not soap opera Role-Playing that no one else wants to hear about... heehee, I just like to keep open and available for anyone else around. Spontaneity for the win!
(Well, other than... I am someone who may be around, who doesn't use voice chat [although, I might enjoy talking to some of you some time, just for a bit of fun socialization] and would be slightly disappointed if voice chat was prominent and people left because of that)

It's cool. It's just like if everyone decided the best time to play was 2am-6am or something. My own situation doesn't fit with what everyone else is doing. No big deal.
Edit: I'll still be on 606 (no reason not to be) so if anyone is chattering there, you'll have an audience... heh
I won't be joining voice chat... I may end up installing whatever I need to install to listen but my comments will be typed in. It's not a money issue so much as paper thin walls, often playing while others are sleeping and all in all hating my voice and not wanting to inflict it on others
so there'll at least be one non voice user in group even if I am generally on at odd times.
I used voice chat back when the computer was in my room, but since I've moved the computer is in a little alcove in the upstairs hallway, right smack dab in the middle of the bedrooms. Since I play at night my talking would distrub other people.
I also wear headphones so that they're not bothered by the game sounds/music for whatever I might be doing.
I'm not opposed to listening in and typing out my replies though.

Well, it goes beyond that. I don't think my wife wants to listen to CoH conversations all night long and I don't think it's fair to isolate myself from my family by wearing headphones (and I'd be talking anyway). Basically, for several reasons, the whole voice thing is kind of a non-starter for me.

I don't have a mic either, and probably don't plan to get one since I mumble when I speak. >.>
Plus its kinda akward when someone comes into my room when I have vent on anyways...

I'm ok with not using voice chat all the time too. It's not necessary. I do prefer it when I'm just hanging around with folks as much as playing (easier to just discuss stuff). But it's not a requirement for me to team.
I had quite an enjoyable time teaming with you folks this evening. I checked the clock at one point and thought "Woah, it's after midnight??". It was great hanging out and talking with everyone.
I'm definitely down for doing that again.
