DM/Shield: it took a little while to blossum, but once you get Soul Drain, it makes Shield Charge a nuke ready for pretty much every mob, with now crash. I just rolled a BS/Shield, I hope its as much fun. |

Fire and Ice aren't to hard to keep in concept with each other, as they do the same thing in reverse...one increases the temperature, the other decreases.
LMAO
I tend to stick with builds that make sense in my head... I'm sure that ice/fire or fire/ice blasters are awesome... but I can't bring myself to make one as I can't justify the concept. I've tried to get past this and have to a small degree I figure I can justify assault rifles (or archery for that matter)/anything and anything/devices by saying well he can manipulate element X but chooses to use assault rifles or devices also. So most of my builds tend to stick to that line of thinking and when I deviate from it I almost don't enjoy playing the toon... I made a rad/energy blaster... I can't play him... it just doesn't feel right |
The downside however, for me anyways, is while I can see them both working nicely together in concept, I'd like to beable to throw both a Fireball and an Ice Blast, and that can't happen yet :/

That's kinda why I have a hard time suspending my belief of reality to that extent. As pure fire or ice you have the ability to manipulate either in almost any way imaginable but if you take both it feels to me like both are somewhat incomplete regardless of how well they work together. On the other hand it would obviously be way too powerful to be able to have full mastery of each lol.

Global @radubadu
Usually playing one of the following toons blueside on Virtue:
Cadler 50 WP/SS tanker
Radubadu 46 Fire/Fire blaster
Hell Runner 35 Fire/Fire brute
I had a tech-based Fire/Ice blaster. Her concept was a military-grade fire assault suit that required an equally aggressive cooling system to keep from cooking the user.
Fire and Ice are one of the easier sets to rationalize. They represent absence and abundance of the same quantity. No big deal. Its the nonsequitor combos that seem weird, like a Dark/Rad defender, or a mutant AR/Dev blaster. You're clearly using technology. Those are gadgets. You didn't mutate a gun out of your arm or landmines out your butt. I could buy those were magic gadgets or artifacts way before I could believe those were in some way organic.
Stay Gold, Paragon. Stay Gold.

Well, you can freeze them in a block of Ice, or Immobilize a group in chunks of Ice, and then throw a fireball at them. Ice Control/*/Fire. For the sake of concept, that works. Or you can go with the Fire/*/Ice combo, where your "fireball" can be Bonfire and blast with Ice.

LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)
