Unless I'm completely mistaken, a Militant Newfie would be a Militant citizen of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.
Oh, and I blame any knowledge of this on the band Great Big Sea, my favorite Newfies.
As for the name? Well a few proud (not militant though) newfies would be the band members. So Alan Doyle, Sean McCann, and Bob Hallett.
