The Books of Paragon

So, last night I came up with an ideea, but upon further thought it would take years to be finalized they way it was intended so now I open this topic with an altered version of what I had in mind.
I will call them "The Books of Paragon", but their names are subject to change and i imagined them to look something like this :

Obviously with a custom made hardback cover and probably slightly bigger in the number of pages.
For this project we will need 3 users. One in Europe (myself), one in USA and one in Australia. We will be the one to gather the pages from everyone else, sent by mail.
This is what the pages should be and the rules for their acceptance :
1. Each user is allowed 2 pages, in the A4 format.
( http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/iso-paper.html | http://www.craftycomputerpaper.co.uk...=faqpaperssize )
2. One page is for a villain and one page is for a hero. Your main ones.
3. By page I mean a sheet of paper.
4. One side of the page should have 1-5 pictures printed on 100% of the page , representing a graphic presentation of your character.
5. Another side of the page should contain your character`s bio/description/backstory/presentation story.
5.a The title of it should be your character's name.
5.b Font and color are your choice
5.c. Text size should be 12.
6. Pages should be sent by mail to each of the users collecting them and later will be add in alphabetical order in custom made hardback covers.
7. Last, but not least they should be sent to NCSoft`s HQ where our dev team should add (if they wish to) their signature character's pages.
8. Books should be done in time for the next HeroCon.

This is what I had in mind, but before we start some choices should be made, like :
a) Book title
b) Laminated or simple pages
c) page format (a4 slightly differs from one continent to another).

It will take months until completion so everyone has a lot of time on their hands to make the best if they wish to join in. The covers should be ordered how many pages we have. Also, during this time we should choose a cover design. Also, keep in mind that before we finish, Going Rogue will have been long time released so your main characters may or may not switch sides, and some might decide to remain neutral (which we don't know yet 100% what that means beside being able to access both sides).

The initial ideea was something similar , like a custom made 2000 page blank book that would go from user to user and have everyone handwrite they`r characters bio and such, or other words about Paragon but that would take too much considering that we have a few thousand forum users.

The books are meant like a .. registrar I guess. And I thought it would be nice to have them presented at the next HeroCon or keep them in the Paragon archive We could also give them a more personal touch and sign the pages, and after that we could, dunno, auction it or something and give the money to charity.
But for the moment, lets see what you think.

Official Handbook of the COH Universe?

@craggy see me on Union for TFs, SFs (please!) or just some good ol fashioned teaming.

Think of it more like a yearbook. It's a neat idea, but I honestly can't see it happening with the manpower we have available.

Sounds like the Virtueverse to me. Have you seen the Virtueverse site? Great amounts of player-generated content about their notable characters.

I tried to link to it earlier today when I saw your post, and I've tried to link to it now, but nothing seems to be working -- it doesn't even time out with a 404 error. It's like a black hole.

So maybe it's dead, I don't know. I never participated in it myself; just admired the dedication and creativity involved.

Manpower= people that will accept giing out their adres or po box for others to mail an envelope containing their character's page.

I don't see why there would need to be a physical page created for each person. Surely everyone has access to a word-processing program and email?

edit: the final product, once compiled and edited could be sold through print on demand services if need be. certainly should be a low/no cost production.

This seems the most workable to me.
No giing required, and i've seen an increasing number of authors releasing books in a print on demand format. Sometimes with a free pdf version on their own site.

Dr. Todt's theme.

An interesting idea, but there are quite a few pitfalls in what you laid out. After all once information is on the net, its there forever, giving out your address is potentially dangerous. Plus singular books are a bit limited in use and appeal.

Why not arrange it as an e-book? Create a domain to host it and set up submission rules. This would include a contract regarding submission use, and limitations on 'publication.' (Online use only, prints for personal use, and not for profit printings by the site.) A standard agreement could be tweaked easily enough, and I'm sure some of the legal types around could help with that.

Format of submissions would follow the needs of the printed version, obviously. But this way far more people could enjoy the collective works, than three books would allow for. Plus you could even expand into secondary articles that would break the page limitation and strictly appear in the online format.

As for titles, what about Paragon Hero Registry for a hero volume and Ledger of Destiny for a villain one? Region can be denoted by the publication information, or could be done away with if submission numbers are low enough.
