Actually, the concept of "gangs as being protectors of their communities" idea has been done more than once. You can certainly do thugs and be Good Guys all the way.

No, I am not even close to kidding.

Dude Your practically telling me to go to Mexico, go to a soccer game with a baseball bat and wait for the riot. Then I'll have the best time of my life because it will be an act of defense not a crime ( or is it?)

I have a Necro/Thermal that I'm going to bring fully over to being a hero. My feeling is that he is mis-understood. He hasn't done ANY villainous stuff. Everything he has done has been in the AE. His undead minions are actually all of his own brothers, who were killed by the Family. Their desire for justice has keep their spirits loosely bound to the earth and to their brother, who summons them.

Basically, all my character's undead are willing family members who want to do good in the world. They are willing undead and they will only do heroic things.

So, yes, Necromancers CAN be good.

I've got a Mercs/Storm MM I'm planning on having switch sides when GR comes out. He's basically a former henchman who took his boss's weather control device after he got caught to use it himself, so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch from rebelling against his former evil boss to rebelling against evil in general.

Hmm. Robots-Reprogrammed, Ninjas-Trained to be heroes (like on the show Xiaolin Showdown), Thugs- As someone said they protect they're community/hometown, Necromancy-Pets are like some other people said willing people or people from the damned or where they go in this game-ology, Mercenaries-Well they went to war to try save but then they like came back to kill these guys(but they come one at a time).

There are good reasons for hero masterminds
and for demon summoning well they already made a huge story about that

I have a stalker who is an avenging undead spirit. He's a villain because he kills pretty much everything he comes across, but I can see how he might gradually come to realize that he really only wants to kill the people responsible for his death. He's a stalker, but the same character concept could work as a necro mastermind, if he brought along a few undead friends.

Oooh, the main character in Neil Gaiman's Graveyard Book is sort of a necro master mind! Kind of. He's very nice, and it's not at all his fault that he can talk to the dead. They are very nice people, even if they are dead, and of course they want to help him, and to keep him safe from the bad people.

The movie Ghost? The dead person is the good guy, trying to protect the woman he loves and get justice for his murder. Whoopi Goldberg isn't in charge of him, but she could still be a mastermind character. I have a mercenary mastermind who is actually a prisoner of the mercenaries. He's a science nerd, and they force him to develop weapons and traps for them. A necro mastermind could be a medium who is forced by the spirits she communicates with to facilitate their quest for justice against the criminals who killed them.

A couple of ideas off the cuff...

Thugs/Dark: A bad *** mystic and his gang of rough and tumble vampire killers.

Bots/Traps: A super tricky gadgeteer and his friendly robot minions.

TA/Ninja: A venerable martial arts master and his band of valiant acolytes.

Mercs/anything: You're the leader or a highly trained paramilitary organization with far reaching global powers.

All of these ideas have been done in movies, anime, and comics. You can basically justify almost any combination as heroic. As long as you cast yourself as the leader of a group of heroes. The pets are even nameable so you can give them heroic sounding names.

I know that my demon/dark miasma mastermind

hid stroy will be that there were hells demons plannin gon invading heaven, ofcourse the demons were oblitterated in the fight, so God thought a horrible punishment for the demons. The punishment is that the demons will be forced to help a local man become a hero and stop crime! but when they aren't summoned they are sent to a mystic jail hanging with chain they they can't escape and police and arbiter drones are guarding their cells. Is it good or terrible.

P.S people who say terrible will make me cry!

I still don't see how a heroic Necromancer is any more of a stretch than... say a heroic Defender who "arrests" people by blasting them with massive bursts of radiation. Or any of the heroes who "arrest" people with swords, assault rifles, fire, and rocket launchers. None of which are known for their generally non-fatal nature.
