Zones:
I quite like this idea, would be interesting. /Signed.
I like the sound of this, especially the Fallout zone. We could fight enemies such as Raiders, Radscorpions and have a Super Mutant Behemoth!
Seriously though, I think these zones would be awesome, especially the Fallout zone.
It would be interesting to see what the rest of the Co* planet looks like. Each zoneset could be based on capital cities and regions of other countries. Considering there are british superheroes in the game must mean there is a United Kingdom in the Co* universe.

Cox is awesome with the zones that we have. A few "unused zones" on heroes, and a few zones still desired on the red side. All in all the dev team dealing with the zone creation does a marvelous job!

The new "GR" experience will bring us new zones for that aspect of the game. But after that, lets say this time next year, what about portals that take our characters all over the world. Where the gamers/customers can get a touch of some other geography through zone additions or story arcs. If we read the history of Paragon City and Rogue Isles, we read about battles between supers from different countries over 50 years ago. So I'm thinking, what about story content that takes us to different parts of the planet. Almost like Cimerora and how it puts us in like a Greece or Italy area. |
Now, portal missions (or just any mission) which is set in a specific mini-Zone (Hong Kong, Paris, London, Siberia, Timbuktu, Rio de Janeiro, Amazon jungle, India, Tibet); I can really get behind that. Hmmmm, maybe finally I have an idea...
Can there be an African or South American Jungle zone or story arc? Eastern Asia zone or arc? Dark Age zone or arc? |
Meh. Again a 'Chinatown' style mission map would fill the bill enough for me. I dont really need to see catgirls and gundam in their natural habitat. Although, I am a big Godzilla fan, go figure.
The Dark Ages werent all that rockin' a time actually. And they have a MMO (scads of them, actually) setup for S&S buffs already. We do have 'dark age' style mobs already that could use some fleshing out, but Cimerora was created more for its fleshing out of the CoX backstory (set in the ancient Mediterranean) than to give a reason for armored conflict, I do believe.
For the lack of zones on the red side, how about some kind of "fallout zone". A zone that Recluse has destroyed in a display of power. |
An "ice zone" would be awesome as well. Can be a zone that recluse hasn't yet fully obtained yet. His rule isn't completely locked in in this zone and would have storyline material to relate to this. |
A sand zone !! Controled by Scirroco! lol probably not . |
Zone creation is a major undertaking, and so would new map textures for missions; but I bet we could get new mini-Zone maps with all this sorta stuff alot quicker with a RNG varying what each exactly looks like each time you 'zone in' for spice. I'm not 'completely' against new Zones and such; I just don't expect a whole lot along the lines of this Suggestion unless it's already in the pipes for GR. And I fear we will get a 'fallout' style Zone in Praetoria. Oh well.

I like this idea also but from where I stand I think CoX is far from making this a reality. I even think the GR expansion might also be coming to soon for there are other issues that need to be addressed. Ive recently come back to the game (again) and I decided not to go back into my old routine but to really look at CoX for what it is and as much as I would like to get super technical with a discussion some basic gaming needs still havent been met to make cox a successful game.
ZONES!!
. right
Lest just stay on topic for the most part. Whats going on with all the dead zones (mostly on the hero side) I mostly play hero side and boy there are a lot of dead spots. I do like what the devs are trying to doing so I wont ponder on the negatives but ill focus on positive points and suggestions instead.
Problem
We need more 50 content. My SG Mates put a hardcore effort to max their characters but every time we do so we sit our 50s to the side, purpled out and all, and start over. When we play these characters its mostly exempted down to do some low level task forces or to play with other SG mates helping them in thought low level missions. Even when doing that we are not much help with the current slot percentage reduction. 90% of the game is low level gaming and we have lost many a SG mates because of this and more of our hardcore gamers are getting bored.
Solution
Take all the dead zones and make them level 50 content, not Im not saying make the hole zones level 50 because 50s dont really care about street mobs but put some 50 story arcs and 50 TFs with rewarding benifites like merits would be awsome, I really think all TFs should be level 50 but I wont take it there on this post. If we do this it will at least hold your current fan base and probably bring back some old members. I know I would be able to convince a few dozen members that went to wow to come back before the wow lore really pulls them in.
Cox has always had what its needed to be a top MMO, its just been used in the wrong way.
you know I've been requesting for an Asian zone for such a long time now.. I really have, but also seeing that Paragon Island is at Rhoad Island, why not have an Italian zone as well. Kinda like a place where the Family or any other mob type people come from a point of origin as it where..

Family already get three really good bases of operation in CoX. Indy Port, Striga Isle, and Port Oakes. The real problem is that they get almost no time in the spotlight blueside, and they get a single easily-missed arc redside which is equally focused on the Mooks.

Heh, I remember once spending a long time coming up with an idea for Japanese zone, three actually, for heroes, villains, and one where both could meet. (didn't settle whether it'd be coop or PVP)
Though I will say that a lot of zones, as of now, are unused much on their own, so perhaps what would really be needed is some story arc visitation and some changes to the some of the neighborhoods to give kind of a theme and new life. (Though the dev say updating a zone takes as much time and effort as it does simply to make a new one.)
I especially like like the idea of portal corp missions that send you to other parts of the world.
Also, on the note of places where single ethnic groups tend to gather, Ian, have you ever been to places like Little Tokyo or China town? The reason that happens is because immigrants will look for people who feel familiar, especially when founded in older times when racism kind of forced those people together in those places.

I would like to have a suburban shopping mall zone..it could be pvp as well..Villians trying to rob a jewelry store in the mall get confronted by the heroes. What do you guys and gals think?

Old zone content needs fixing first. Content, not the maps, maybe. But old is still old, and not as fun to play through.
Then, by all means, roll onto the new stuff, since it will be good, having seen what zones like the new RWZ and Cimerora are like. We know the Devs do great work.
But it won't hold together if the paintwork is shiny but the chassis (old zones) are rusty. And they are,
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

Not to mention my concerns with it being mostly a haven constructed for the Family. The devs have actually gone out of their way to try and distance the Family from being a strictly Italian organization.

Really, when one considers the nature of ouroboros, it should be feasible to phase out old content and have it be found exclusively within Ouroboros flashbacking, maybe to help players find those old arcs, give them a special tab in the aspect pillar listing, or perhaps have them require a special aspect pillar/mender contact.
But that's kind of getting off on a tangent.
@Ian
Ah, so that's what you meant, and it's understandable. I would kind of think that maybe a broader regional community might be more in order, for example, if we go into something like a "Little Mediterranean", we might also be able to include Banished Pantheon (Though I think they're more central and southern African that northern), as well as throw in a few links to Cimerora.
