Best Brute For PvP

Ok i love my brutes and i'm sick of hearing that brutes dont cut the grade in pvp anymore

so whats the best build for pvp

i was thinking EM/WP or SS/Elec

Tell me what you guys think?

1. Brutes don't cut the grade anymore. The only advantage they have over a Scrapper is that their webnade doesn't give -KB.

If you're serious about a Brute, go SS/Fire/Mace, and get onto teams and spam taunt and webnades, since that's all a Brute's good for these days. (No, I'm not joking.)

Willpower WAS decent before the changes, granted Rttc only works with stuff in melee range. Now any little mez shuts the power off, making it even more useless. Def based is screwed w/ the current PvP, DR makes being capped just a waste of money. Resist base does ok except when you pop your "godmode" you might as well point and laugh at yourself. Again DR made PvP useless, the mez changes made pvp unfair for the most part.

Devs asked the PvP community what we thought during beta testing of PvP 2.0. It was met with harsh words and a whole lot of distaste. We were ignored for the most part and changes went through. The devs are happy with PvP 2.0 and doubt a huge change will ever occur again. What's the response of this from the PvP community on this? Not sure, since I haven't seen roughly 85% of the people I used to PvP with.

Am I bitter? Yes I am. Fact is, there are more things wrong with pvp 2.0 then right. I won't bore you with my list as this is getting waaaaaay off topic.

For 1vs.1 go with WP. I run a fire/wp brute on virtue and freedom and can take out pretty much anything in duels. Just remember to take Aid Self

Fire >>>>>>>> WP both offensively and defensively.

Fire is good too just have to make the heal come back rather quick

The only time WP with Aid Self will outperform Fire is in some fiteklub situations (i.e. both people standing in melee clicking buttons until someone dies). Basically, between free PvP resists, Temperature Protection, and sometimes the Winter's Gift slow resist IO, a Fire Brute can achieve very impressive movement and recharge slow resistances, and there are plenty of places to slot -KB IOs to make up for the lack of in-set knockback protection. Toss in Fiery Embrace (backing up Rage and Fury) and you're capable of putting out respectable burst damage in melee. As an example, here's my SS/Fire/Mace build (note that this build is designed around teaming, so my role is limited to taunting and webbing to disrupt the other team's damage spikes, and occasionally getting into melee and tossing KO Blow once in a while).

must be fiteclubbing cause lol@wpbrutes against anything that debuffs.

I'll throw in DM/Elec into the mix. It has some intersting tools. The End drain of power sink isn't great (what is it, 19% now in PvP?), but it's there if you can catch them off guard.

But for the most part, it's pretty rough being a brute in PvP. SS does have KoB, which is handy.

PvP 2.0 doesn't make any sense. Flurry? What?!

no you won't.
you will never catch anyone off guard with end drain unless you're fiteclubbing an idiot that refuses to kite. and dark melee is not good. period. siphon life causes heal suppression, and you have nearly 0 burst, which is what you really want on a pvp brute.

DPS gets you nowhere if you have to chase your target around.

I second SS/Fire. I'm not much of a PvP'er, but my AoE SS/Fire build does pretty good in RV considering it's built for PvE/farming.

Siphon Life did not cause heal decay when I was playing PvP 2.0 a while ago. I'm pretty sure it still doesn't. I'm curious whether heal decay was added to Siphon Life recently or if you're just mistaken.

I've found MG to be quite good in PvP actually. Mine is socketed in a way that grants 90% immobilize duration, 93% damage, 90% recharge, and 75% accuracy. A squishy immobilized for 2-4 seconds lets me bang away with Smite->Siphon->Patron Ranged, with the possibility of another Smite following the Siphon and before the patron attack as they run.

Hell no, DM isn't great, but the tools can make it enjoyable.

The biggest problem for DM is still having the +ToHit/+daamge attached to a long recharging PBAOE. I sometimes had to use a MG immobilize just to run a single chance for my Soul Drain to hit.
