The Third Annual Mr. and Ms. Paragon City/Rogue Isles Costume Contest!


Each server will be represented by a Hero, Heroine, Villain, and Villainess, who will have a chance to become the City of Heroes Mr. and Ms. Paragon City and City of Villains Mr. and Ms. Rogue Isles!



Contest Categories:
  • Mr. Paragon City (Male Hero)
  • Ms. Paragon City (Female Hero)
  • Mr. Rogue Isles (Male Villain)
  • Ms. Rogue Isles (Female Villain)


Contest Dates

The contest dates are as follows for individual servers. All contest times are 9:00 pm - 12:00 am EST.
  • 12/11/09 (Friday) Liberty & Pinnacle
  • 12/12/09 (Saturday) Justice & Victory
  • 12/13/09 (Sunday) Virtue
  • 12/18/09 (Friday) Guardian & Protector
  • 12/19/09 (Saturday) Infinity & Champion
  • 12/20/09 (Sunday) Freedom & Triumph
  • 01/08/10 (Friday) Test Server – Finals Judging
*Note: If you make the finals you must attend this date for the final judging or be disqualified



Judging Times

The following are the specific times for faction and gender. Your character must be in Pocket D for judging. The times are the same for all servers.
  • 9:00pm EST - 9:45 pm EST -- Male Heroes
  • 9:45pm EST - 10:30 pm EST -- Female Heroes
  • 10:30pm EST - 11:15 pm EST -- Male Villains
  • 11:15pm EST - 12:00 am EST -- Female Villains



Prizes

All server winners will receive gold titles that will last for 6 months.

The four grand prize winners will receive in-game gold titles that will last for 1 year and their choice of 1 costume code per overall winner from the codes listed below.
  • PPD Hardsuit
  • Freakshow Tank Boss
  • Carnie Harlequin
  • Knives of Artemis
  • Carnie Ring Mistress
  • Praetorian Clockwork




Contest Rules

Note: Judges for individual server events will not be representatives of that server.
  • Any Hero or Villain may enter.
  • No member of PERC may enter.
  • The winners of the finals will be representatives of their respective games and should personify that game.
  • Huge body type heroes/villains will be determined to be male. Monster heroes/villains will be determined male or female by body type, and/or name and biography if necessary.
  • Judging for the contest will be scored for costume and creativity. The final contests will be based both on costume design and on a short series of interview questions. Interview answers will be judged in the finals only. Costume scores will be formulated the same way in both individual server contests and finals.
  • Judges have the right in the event of a tie to refer to character biographies and how they apply to the character concept.
  • Interview answers will be judged in the finals only. Interview questions will be available to answer online after the last server competition judging is complete. A link to that site will be made available to our finalists at that time. If you do not complete the questions you will not be allowed to participate in the finals.
  • Character screenshots of the finalists must also be submitted by January 1st, 2010 by 12:00am (midnight) EST. This is to ensure that in the unlikely event that one of the judges is unable to make it to the finals judging, the finals will still continue as scheduled.

Ok Folks, We Are Upping The Ante!!

New prizes have been graciously added by Paragon Studios! Each server winner (4 winners per server) will receive the costume code of his or her choice from the list above. Each winner who is crowned Mr. or Ms. Paragon City or Rogue Isles will win 2 costume codes and a Hero Con exclusive Fifth Anniversary City of Heroes T-shirt (in addition to the code from winning the server).


Final Prize Tally

Server Winners- Six month title of Mr. or Ms. Paragon City or Rogue Isles Freedom and one costume code of choice.

Final Winners- One year title of Mr. or Ms. Paragon City or Rogue Isles and three total costume codes of choice and the Hero Con exclusive Fifth Anniversary City of Heroes T-shirt.

MadamePistacio, I have a question for you.

Does this contest follow by the same rules as another CoH competition (Dr Aeon's architect challenge)? i.e. http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?p=2396732

In short:

2. ELIGIBILITY
(d) you must be a resident of the United States (excluding the State of Rhode Island, and excluding Guam, Puerto Rico, U.S. territories, military installations and commonwealths), Canada (excluding Quebec) (Canadian residents will be required to answer an additional mathematical question in order to claim their prizes), or the European Union.
FYI - the Doc Aeon challenge doesn't have any real world prizes, just virtual in-game prizes including a gold title.

I am assuming that this costume contest falls under the same rules.

I'd like to clarify this before I go any further (as I am an Aussie).

That is a very good question. The only potential issue I could see would be with the t-shirt. Costume codes and gold titles are definitely not an issue. So I am sure that the contest is still worth it to you! Good luck!

The PERC contest is a player-run event and is not being hosted or sponsored by Paragon Studios and NCsoft. Therefore, any issues, inquiries, etc regarding PERC contests need to be directed towards PERC.

The MA Contest is an officially thrown Paragon/NCsoft Contest and therefore the following Rules and Guidelines need to be adhered to Dr. Aeon's Challenge.

We will always try to support and encourage participation in our player run events even if we do not officially sponsor them.

EDIT: Here's a picture of what it is.
I am not the Site Guru, however I remember this error message. The picture you are trying to upload is too big. There is a 100 kb maximum. You can reduce the size by reducing the image. I will post an example.

This is a Full Sized Screenshot Its about 344 kb.

I took that screenshot and just removing the rest of the shot in paint reduced the size 90% This size is 32 kb. I hope this helps

Thanks, your advice worked. I took a new shot of my costume and cut it down, and I was able to submit to the site perfectly.

We would like to thank everyone that participated in the Mr. and Ms. Paragon City/Rogue Isles Costume Contest. We would like to congratulate the Freedom winners.

Mr. Paragon City Freedom : Annoyatron
Runner Up : Spark Bow

Ms. Paragon City Freedom : Betty Bee
Runner Up : Smokin.

Mr. Rogue Isles Freedom : That Damn Turtle
Runner Up : Anarchy Blaze

Ms. Rogue Isles Freedom : Argent Twilight
Runner Up : Dark Obliteration

Each winner will receive a Gold Title for 6 months and 1 costume code on their choosing. The finals will be held on the Test Server, Friday the 8th of January at 9 PM Eastern, 6 PM Pacific.

The Finals portion of Mr and Ms Paragon City/Rogue Isles has a series of Question and Answers to be completed. Either Madame Pistacio or Ice Knight will be in contact with each winner with their information for the Finalist website.

Specific Rules for the finals.

1. Finalists must be present to win. If a finalist is not then they will be disqualified.

2. Finalists must have their questions answered and all finalist information completed by the 3rd of January before 11:59 PM Pacific. If a Finalist does not have this completed, P.E.R.C. will award the Runner Up from that category the spot in the finals.

3. If a finalist notifies P.E.R.C. that they can not attend the Finals, P.E.R.C. will allow the Runner Up to enter the finals.

4. In the event we have to award the Runner Up a spot in the finals, they will be given 72 hours after the deadline to complete the finalist information. If they do not, then that server will not be represented in that category.
