The Third Annual Mr. and Ms. Paragon City/Rogue Isles Costume Contest!


Each server will be represented by a Hero, Heroine, Villain, and Villainess, who will have a chance to become the City of Heroes Mr. and Ms. Paragon City and City of Villains Mr. and Ms. Rogue Isles!



Contest Categories:
  • Mr. Paragon City (Male Hero)
  • Ms. Paragon City (Female Hero)
  • Mr. Rogue Isles (Male Villain)
  • Ms. Rogue Isles (Female Villain)


Contest Dates

The contest dates are as follows for individual servers. All contest times are 9:00 pm - 12:00 am EST.
  • 12/11/09 (Friday) Liberty & Pinnacle
  • 12/12/09 (Saturday) Justice & Victory
  • 12/13/09 (Sunday) Virtue
  • 12/18/09 (Friday) Guardian & Protector
  • 12/19/09 (Saturday) Infinity & Champion
  • 12/20/09 (Sunday) Freedom & Triumph
  • 01/08/10 (Friday) Test Server – Finals Judging
*Note: If you make the finals you must attend this date for the final judging or be disqualified



Judging Times

The following are the specific times for faction and gender. Your character must be in Pocket D for judging. The times are the same for all servers.
  • 9:00pm EST - 9:45 pm EST -- Male Heroes
  • 9:45pm EST - 10:30 pm EST -- Female Heroes
  • 10:30pm EST - 11:15 pm EST -- Male Villains
  • 11:15pm EST - 12:00 am EST -- Female Villains



Prizes

All server winners will receive gold titles that will last for 6 months.

The four grand prize winners will receive in-game gold titles that will last for 1 year and their choice of 1 costume code per overall winner from the codes listed below.
  • PPD Hardsuit
  • Freakshow Tank Boss
  • Carnie Harlequin
  • Knives of Artemis
  • Carnie Ring Mistress
  • Praetorian Clockwork




Contest Rules

Note: Judges for individual server events will not be representatives of that server.
  • Any Hero or Villain may enter.
  • No member of PERC may enter.
  • The winners of the finals will be representatives of their respective games and should personify that game.
  • Huge body type heroes/villains will be determined to be male. Monster heroes/villains will be determined male or female by body type, and/or name and biography if necessary.
  • Judging for the contest will be scored for costume and creativity. The final contests will be based both on costume design and on a short series of interview questions. Interview answers will be judged in the finals only. Costume scores will be formulated the same way in both individual server contests and finals.
  • Judges have the right in the event of a tie to refer to character biographies and how they apply to the character concept.
  • Interview answers will be judged in the finals only. Interview questions will be available to answer online after the last server competition judging is complete. A link to that site will be made available to our finalists at that time. If you do not complete the questions you will not be allowed to participate in the finals.
  • Character screenshots of the finalists must also be submitted by January 1st, 2010 by 12:00am (midnight) EST. This is to ensure that in the unlikely event that one of the judges is unable to make it to the finals judging, the finals will still continue as scheduled.

Hi Madame! I'm happy to see this is happening again!

Quick question: I was wondering if any powers will be allowed for the costume portion of the competition. Specifically, I have a toon that has a little Clockwork buddy that fits in with his concept, but I guess I'm wondering about a couple other powers too, such as ones that put your character into a "fighting" pose as opposed to standing up completely straight.

Unfortunately, the use of any powers or props will not be allowed. It would create an unfair advantage as some people have two vet pets, and some none. You are however invited to use a fighting pose or other pose in front of the judges. We want to maintain as fair of a contest as possible and thus the use of "extras" is out. Thanks for your question!

Quick question if I may. What are the rules on multiple entries? For instance, would one person be allowed to enter both a Hero and a Villain or both a Male and a Female? I would understand if this could be considered unfair or so, but for those of us on the lower population servers it could help to bring a few more costumes to be judged. Thanks!

You may only enter one character per account or global name. We appreciate the desire to compete in multiple categories, but in order to make the contest as fair as possible, only one entry per account is allowed. Also, if you won in multiple categories, you would not be able to be on both characters at once at the finale, which would be an issue. If last year's contest was any indication, even the "low population" servers filled up!

Was it really necessary for rednames to clog the Community Digest by posting in EVERY thread for this event? Wouldn't a single announcement, with a consolidated link to each server's thread have been better?

We would like to thank everyone that participated in the Mr. and Ms. Paragon City/Rogue Isles Costume Contest. We would like to congratulate the Guardian winners.

Mr. Paragon City Guardian : Stingerbee

Mr. Rogue Isles Guardian : Nemesis Plot

Ms. Rogue Isles Guardian : Tin Kitty

(Just a note, The Mr Rogue Isles and The Runner up for Ms Rogue Isles were from different accounts and the Ms. Rogue Isles runner up is spelled with a capitol i instead of an L, Plot (Piot))

Each winner will receive a Gold Title for 6 months and 1 costume code on their choosing. The finals will be held on the Test Server, Friday the 8th of January at 9 PM Eastern, 6 PM Pacific.

The Finals portion of Mr and Ms Paragon City/Rogue Isles has a series of Question and Answers to be completed. Either Madame Pistacio or Ice Knight will be in contact with each winner with their information for the Finalist website.

Specific Rules for the finals.

1. Finalists must be present to win. If a finalist is not then they will be disqualified.

2. Finalists must have their questions answered and all finalist information completed by the 3rd of January before 11:59 PM Pacific. If a Finalist does not have this completed, P.E.R.C. will award the Runner Up from that category the spot in the finals.

3. If a finalist notifies P.E.R.C. that they can not attend the Finals, P.E.R.C. will allow the Runner Up to enter the finals.

4. In the event we have to award the Runner Up a spot in the finals, they will be given 72 hours after the deadline to complete the finalist information. If they do not, then that server will not be represented in that category.
