/SR Brute question..
SR isn't all that good, to be honest. An SR Scrapper would probably be better than a Brute due to the Scrapper's higher base damage, but other than that SR as a set has literally nothing going for it in the post-I13 PvP scene.
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."
had a fire/sr in i13.
i run itfs with it now.
it's trash in pvp and it took me 35 minutes of play after the elusivity nerf to realize it.
Yeah, I still use my DM/SR every once in a while when I feel like being humbled. Nothing like playing a scrapper with literally no secondary to make you lol at the game and its nerfs.
In elude, there's actually a small chance that someone might miss me. Out of elude, I might as well not even turn on my toggles. They do nothing.
SR is better on a brute than it is on a scrapper for two reasons:
1: Higher base hitpoints mean that you get more leverage out of the passive scaling damage resistance.
2: Evasion gets a taunt aura.
Whether these two items make any difference in PvP, I don't know. Everyone tells me SR is gimped in PvP now, but I seem to be doing fine with my claws/sr scrapper. Granted, claws has KB and I'm IOed to the gills. I do not have elude or aid self.
Be well, people of CoH.
Where do you PvP?
If you're actually able to KB people with claws, that might explain why you're also doing well with SR.
I honestly don't PvP much, which might also explain my current perceptions. But there have been a few large free for alls in arena, a few one on ones, and some warburg and RV action as well.
Within that bunch of events, the only time I felt gimped was against a /rad when I thought that breaking LoS was what I needed to do to get the rad toggles off me instead of distance as I later learned.

Never said I wasn't a carebear. I'm just a carebear that wins a lot for some reason.

Any primary/secondary can have success in PvP.. How much of success??
Who knows. I know with my /sr I have taken out fully purp/pvp opponents.
Bottom line is it all depends on the skill of keyboardist.
This is enlightening, because as far as I can see they're about 4 /SR anything in RV. I run a lulzy Spines/SR along with that Project baddude. I've also seen one /SR stalker and one Katana/SR scrap.
Im with barrier, its better to just keep it for PvE with all the mess that is /SR.
OH yeah thats right go with LOLregen then
I ask.. is becuase there are two /SR scrapper (on Guardian) that are almost impossible to kill, because their def is so high..
It took 3 of us (3 stalkers) to take him down.. I believe he has his toggles and passives.. weave and maneuvers..
A well-built character should be able to reliably hit an SR (outside of Elude, generally) during the Aim or Build Up window, assuming you slot Aim/BU for tohit, have ample accuracy slotting, and some +acc global bonuses.
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."
Not really, no. The only exception might be a Mind Dom or Controller, because even though SR has free psi defense in PvP, it's not much (for example, my Rad/Psi uses Dominate on Nin Stalkers all the time in RV, because it's the only attack I can reliably land on them when they're not debuffed).

I had stuck with my spines/SR as my main PVP pride. Pre-DR, with a super recharge build, my elude downtime was 80s and it was very powerful when played right. Was still very nice for the pre-'fixed' elusivity.
These days it's a very different story. SR is just about a non-existant secondary. Even with elude up, it feels everyone and their grandmother gets free, full damage hits in. Then aid self suppresses you movement, so even if you heal back you're in range still for more pounding. I don't think a brute would fare any better with the number of blasters with aim. If three stalkers have difficulty taking down an SR scrapper, then it's that the stalkers aren't built well, not that the SR is good.
Even though it's my pride and I wanted to stick with it to avoid regin and be different, I've given up. Blasters had higher survivalibilty than me and a ballload of more damage. So last week I grinded my BS/Regen to 50 and the survivability difference is night and day.
Lith--PVBee is retired, so now it's 3 SRs in RV.
Yeah I hadn't seen you in awhile, so I figured you had let Bee go.
Good luck on your other ventures.
I forgot to mention that SR's scaling damage resistance does nothing as well, because either:
1) the kill shot from a stalker AS or crit kills you before you're even into the scaling range
2) when you're in the damage scaling resistance range you're also in the corrupter scourge range.
I guess this wouldn't affect brutes as much but still, a decent blaster will totally eat you for breakfast.

You should consider a primary like DM if you want to make an SR for PvP. The negative toHit makes it additionally harder for someone to hit you and Siphon Life is both an attack and a heal. Despite what has been said so far about SR this combination makes for a great PvP toon in the new i13 rules.
I have seen some really good /SR scrappers in PvP.. how would a /SR brute do?
EDIT: forgot a word.. >_<
