What are the various power damage ratings?
Those listings are highly dependent on the powerset you're looking at, and have very little to do with actual in-game numbers.
As far as the order goes, it's pretty much how you'd expect it to go, from highest to lowest:
Extreme
Superior
Heavy
Moderate
Light
However, there's no set formula that I know of that determines when a power moves from one to another. So, for instance, it's not that an extreme damage power will do 25% more damage than a superior damage power, or anything like that. The in-game listings for powers are often wrong, too, which further complicates the matter.

You missed "Minor", which generally means "We're going to laugh at you for slotting damage in this"

The damage ratings are pretty much arbitrary. Minor might mean it's the first attack in your chain, or might mean it does 1s at level 50. Minor could mean it does 72 damage (Fire Melee Scrapper) while Moderate for an MM means 30 damage (Dark Blast).
The recharge times are really vague and inaccurate too. Slow can mean anything from 8 seconds to 40, while moderate can mean anything up to 10. Long can go up as high as 360s, while very long can start as low as 60 and go up to 1000. 2s can be called fast or very fast. Fast is even as much as 10s in some powers.
Pretty much one of the reasons why we got real numbers.
Dispari has more than enough credability, and certainly doesn't need to borrow any from you.

Hi:
When I buy my combat powers, I can read descriptions to their damage potential such as light, moderate, high, etc. Can someone tell me what are the damage categories from lowest to strongest damage and also tell me how much more each damage is above the previous category? I.E. Moderate is how much more damage over light. Hugs Stormy |
Thank you all for the wonderful replies
