Broadband Gaming for CoX

I'm looking to change my internet service provider as the one I am currently with has been providing me with a very unreliable service for the past month.

What I need to know is how many GB's does CoX use when I play it upwards of 8 hrs a day, 7 days a week - per month - for example does an 80GB download limit enable me to do the above or would I be using much more than this?

I think the amount of Traffic CoH uses would be measured in Megabytes... not Gigabytes.

Well since you can play most of it on a dial up connection it isn't much.

CoX is perfectly playable on Dial-up, the only significant traffic is patches, and those are in the 10s-100 Mb normally.

The one exception would be around GR, where there will be a lot of graphics updated.

This question came up before, when Comcast said they'd start enforcing monthly download/traffic limits sometime last year.

If I recall correctly, the end result was that, with their default proposal, you'd have to play 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and download and reinstall the game from scratch once a day, every day, before you went over the limit.

With an 80gb monthly limit, you're not going to come close just playing CoX.

If you are playing Second Life, however, you'll find it is a bandwidth hog, since so much of the graphics are server-side and sent to the client computer on demand.

Thank you all for your responses.

It's good to know that if I go with a new ISP I will not be going to be cut off mid-game because I've exceeded that 80GB limit.

@Starcloud: I don't play Second Life - Ewww!

Let me give you some actual numbers. I keep track of how much CoH I play and I also have a program called BitMeter running that keeps track of my internet traffic and gives daily, weekly and monthly charting.

I'll watch an occasional video online, visit lots of web sites (articles, product reviews, blogs, etc) and play CoH a lot (30+ hours a week). In addition, before they reduced the requirement for the healing badges, I would run overnight heal farms with two accounts in an arena event while I slept. So in a month with 35-40 hours a week of actual playing, then 40-60 hours of two accounts sitting in the arena, I never exceeded 12GB per month downstream.
