No Ice Melee, but we have Energy Melee?
We also have Dark Armor, which can keep spawns stunned and feared.
I believe part of the reason is that it's bad for fury gain, but the other part is that it was added and removed during a period where fury gain was really difficult. Afterward when fury mechanics were changed, it wasn't considered for readdition.
I think we ought to have it. There are much worse builds for fury gain. And really I figure it's up to the players to decide if it's worth having or not. A simple disclaimer that says it might hinder fury would be more than adequate.
Dispari has more than enough credability, and certainly doesn't need to borrow any from you.

So... if the reason behind not having Ice Melee for Brutes is because the -Recharge affects Fury buildup (this is the reason?); then I don't get allowing Energy Melee.
Nothing says, "Here, let me hinder your Fury buildup." more than a mob under a constant mez. Not mad at it... just pointing it out and wondering how it makes sense. |
I didn't try an Ice/Ice brute back when it was in the CoV beta but, I do remember the complaints that caused it to be pulled. Whether they are still valid due to changes in Fury, is a whole separate issue.

The reasons for pulling it in Beta had only marginally to do with the -recharge on opponents from the attacks. There was also the fact that Ice Patch was in the set, plus CE, plus the endurance drain. But most importantly, it was because the set SUCKED back in I6. Remember that back then, Frozen Aura still did no damage, so was just a PBAoE sleep (which was either bad for generating fury, or just completely useless), Frost was still a tiny cone, and the rest of the set's damage was pretty weak.
The set all around was horrible for Brutes back then. It wasn't just due to the slow effects.

What Aett Said, Ice is pretty much the bottom of the barrel when it comes to sexy brute power. I'd sacrifice my neighbors kittens to the proliferation gods for katana/BS/Spines/Martial arts to be ported over before Ice melee.
Can you imagine the "WTF, this set sucks" posts after it was proliferated?
