I've always liked their cover of the Depeche Mode song Stripped.

Unless your playlist was broken glass and sewing needles, i doubt it.

This, speaking of Nightwish, PK actually introduced me to Van Canto recently, which is.. interesting to say the least. I never thought a cappella metal could work.

My musical tastes are so varied its hard to start listing them in here, but I'll think about it and get back to you.

It's hard for me to pick a favourite DT album because they've all got great songs I love. My favourite song would probably be The Glass Prison or maybe Voices.

You ever listened to Liquid Tension Experiment, Kay? A friend recommended them but I just haven't been able to get into it.
Strange. I've had NUMEROUS people tell me that if I like DT that LTE was the ticket for me!! Not so much..........at all.

Rammstein, Nightwish and Dethklok

Yup, I just can't get into LTE.

I am a fan of Rammstein and Nightwish, not Dethklok though. I just can't enjoy screamy music. A lot of hardcore metal stuff I'll love the first 30 seconds or so because its awesome guitar sex, then the dude starts screaming and ugh

My musical tastes is sorta all over the place. I'm very much into rock (Avenged Sevenfold, Bush, Collective Soul), metal (Dethklok, Macabre, Cannibal Corpse, Rhapsody, etc.), trance/techno/house/club and most of the other types o' that sort, classical types (major fan of Tchaikovsky and Beethoven), in addition to all my vidija game, anniemae and various Japanese based music. Now for a bit o' samplin.

This.

I would be willing to listen to anything, though, instead of Taylor Swift, who my roommate is apparently the biggest fan of.

I'd have to agree. While I don't mind some screaming, I find some is thrown in there unnecessarily just for the sake of having screaming.

My prime example of this is the screamer in the band Alexisonfire (Canadian band, so some of you might not know them.) I find his screaming has an obnoxious quality to it, and I can't figure out why they've kept him around, especially with vocal talent like Dallas Green.

Here's an example:

I'm not really a huge fan of screaming either, and growling annoys me. I do have some bands that scream a lot that I really like though, like Strapping Young Lad, Demon Hunter, and Mudvayne

Since I mentioned Strapping Young Lad:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AjDYxb9eYs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wy0Ass-EoPc
And something from one of Devin's solo albums (much less screamy) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcfDxq8Zw5A
Also, Devin Townsend has an album called Ziltoid the Omniscient which is a rock opera about an alien who is going to destroy the Earth after we fail to make him the ultimate cup of coffee. It's quite epic.

And time for random stuff:

Diablo Swing Orchestra: Rock/Swing/Opera band and a song filled with random latin phrases
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsmAF9cVPm4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RR7mWZuFYsQ

Voltaire: best described as Halloween music I guess, kinda hard to classify
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4A7vAKX7uI

Pleymo: French nu metal/rapcore, pretty cool band
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1Gg1IWJ4Hc

And while I'm thinking french, how about some Jorane?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRCQBPf4oCM

And Jorn has a name that spelled almost like Jorane, it's just missing two vowels! He's also awesome and one of my favorite male singers.

Speaking of awesome... Pendulum, one of my favorite bands

Best thing Devin ever did, IMHO, was Deep Down Into the Pain with Steve Vai. Wonderful juxtaposition of beautiful verses with a screaming chorus. Verse one is Devin alone, verse 2 is two part harmony and verse 3 is 3 part. Amazing.
