Traps/Sonic vs AVs (Warning: Lots of pictures)
Glad to see you got your first GM, looking foward to see more epic screenies in the near future
Until i can figure out a solution i hope that my mashing of print screen button and poorly worded explanations in engrish is sufficient proof that traps is a very powerful set and shouldnt get refused in teams just because it isn´t rad or kin. |
What seems to be the problem for many players I've met who dislike traps is the static nature of most of the powers make them believe it doesn't mesh well with steamrolling teams.
Besides, as someone who builds every alt to be able to solo AVs, I can tell it doesn't necessarily translate to being efficient on teams. In one situation, you need good personal mitigation or great holds, and strong ST damage or strong regen debuffs ; in the other, you'll want great AoE damage, fast debuffs, team buffs or aggro control. It's really two completely different games, and while some builds can be good at both, by itself being good at one of these two things doesn't mean being good at the other one.
I'm not sure static fights against tough targets has ever been the perceived issue. For some unknown reason to me, people tend to believe radiation is the only powerset with regen debuffs , but that's not specific to traps - every other debuff powerset is affected.

I havent really had problems with steamrolling teams as that allows me to run ahaead and prep with seekers, pgt, mortar.
My build is not optimised for this. It´s a teaming build that just happens to be able to perform these things.

I know that there are faster debuffing sets but it was more intended for those who spends an hour just so can they get a kin or rad or healor.
I only have the 5 purples left so i might as well post the build as it´s performing well enough for me. Nothing special really its a jack-of-all-trades build with some purps
Traps is fully capable of soloing most level 50 avs with just cap ranged but i wanted the extra oomph.
Gonna respec soon though to tweak it a bit but not sure when and what i´ll do

You need to PuG more.
So was planning to try paladin but got interrupted by some toher heroes so i went for kraken and that green pile of snot is way worse than other gm´s when it comes to running. I´m so mad right now.
Also, congrats on your first GM, very impressive. Makes me want to try a Traps/Son out and believe that's sign of a job well done. (the overlapped triage beacons actually look awesome)
I´ve tried capping but i cant get wegame to work and hd does not like fraps.
I´ve been looking at an external hd with good speeds but dunno yet.

I always had a monster hunter concept in the back of my head but could not do it the way i wanted to until traps was introduced.
I wasn´t really planning on documenting my pokemonish quest around coh but seeing people calling traps a poor set on live servers and that it hadnt enough debuffs/buffs and other nonsense pretty much started this thread.
Also it feels to good to write out what i was fdoing so i can see what i was doing wrong and adjust.
