Holds and Stuns on Blasters

Read the bit up in the corner attached to the icon labelled "Defiance".
That will explain the phenomenon you are noticing.

This got me thinking, did the dev's set the game up so you can get at least get two "moderate" powers off so you are not completely defenseless when you are either held or stunned? Because if I couldn't use any powers I'd been screwed from the +3 Gunslinger who could chop away at me while I just sat there frozen solid. Being able to at least zap him a couple of times saved me big time from dying. When reading the description of these powers, I cannot find anything that states it will fire even if you are immobilized or stunned. Does anyone else have anything that might shed some more light on this subject? Thanks. |
As you've probably no doubt found, it is particularly nice on Energy Blasters who retain some amount of damage and mitigation through knockback.
This is the reason I now take my first two attacks on any blaster I make. Sure, I might get mezzed frequently. Doesn't mean I'm still not dangerous. Pew-pew-pew!

I'll admit that I occasionaly forget that Defiance was changed. I'll be dipping in the red and think here comes that boost....

Not that it was ever useful, the new defiance (can we still call it new?) is far superior!

PvP was fun with old defiance. Hover up to the ceiling of the zone and drop like a rock. Until someone hits you you're hitting like a Mack truck. Only use I ever found for it honestly. The new version is much better, you get a boost for attacking, which is what you're supposed to do in the first place. The old version gave you a bonus for getting your butt kicked, which was useless if you had competent support on the team with you.

So this weekend, I put my level 50 Blaster to work to earn some badges and enhancements from Wentworth's. Was doing the Crimson story arc which I went one on one with the big guy Kronos and happily defeated. The thing that I noticed while going against The Malta Group and being frozen by the Gunslingers and stunned by the Stun Grenades is I was still able to use two of my primary shooting powers, my Power Bolt and my Power Blast. All my other Powers were dead in the water.
