New Halloween event
Just getting back into the groove of things Elric. But I will keep you posted.
You pay to play. Having fun is ok. Kill Skuls or kill Crey. Hunt at night or in the day. Black or white or shades of grey. Play it your way. We have no say.
Silas' official theme song: Word Up!
If you want a good guide for it, B_Samson and some others have a great breakdown on ParagonWiki.
Deadly Apocalypse
I was fun, stargeek and me and some others went to croatoa and hollows, and got some badges. It was even better on PI earlier, when I was with a group fighting an Eo on Cutlass island, and the zombie parade started too
Welcome back Silas!

I like it. I want more events like it. It took two failed attempts for me to figure out how its done but oh man. Once i got a team together of friends and some pick ups it was great fun. Never have i done an event where communication and team work were so crucial well other than say a master run of some kind. So thank you devs for providing this new event and add more .
For those of you who are unsure how to do it yet. I found the best way is to get a full team of 8 and have two people at each banner and work on the waves of baddies till the banners are vulnerable and then have the team meet at one banner and take it out and move on to the next. Its just a ton of fun. But enough about how much i love the event. What do you all think? |
I am really, really glad to see something like this that forces teams to work together for a common goal on this scale instead of 'kill this mob and click the glowie!'
Well done!
don't shoot me, but it reminds me almost of a 25-40 man raid on another mmo in the intricacies involved in it. They take lots of teamwork, communication, and skill.

If somebody you're arguing with goes off the deep end, don't follow.
I stated my reaction in Jello Shooters...
Essentially, you have teams at each of the disparate locations who help to make the banners vulnerable. Then EVERYBODY needs to head to EACH BANNER like children on a T-Ball team chasing a pop fly and stomp on it like it's a giant monster unto itself. While I can understand why (it forces all the players to get all of the badges in one go... in theory), with the twenty minute time limit for the whole event, and you can't even hit anything until it gets to 15 minutes, I must say that there is EXTREMELY little room for error.
While I think the concept is cool, the implementation needs a little leeway work. It takes time to coordinate players. Essentially, it's not going to be easy to get these badges on every single character a player may have.
Also, with the strain it places on the server, it's also not a guarantee that once you get the badges that you'll keep them. Last night we had a situation in Peregrine Island 2. We had JUST smashed the last of the banners when the mapserver crashed and *boop* ten minutes later, everything was reset to twenty minutes ago, and as if the event had never happened. All those badges we'd earned? Gone.
I was able to recover the lost badges shortly afterward, but suffice it to say, my appreciation is definitely soured.
Why can't the cool stuff work right when it's out of the box!?
My Stories
Look at that. A full-grown woman pulling off pigtails. Her crazy is off the charts.
I really like it. I haven't had many opportunities to do it yet, but the few times that I have, I enjoyed.

I liked my experience more on villains than heroes.
As with most 'raid' type things on heroes, people don't use strategy, they just pound on stuff until it dies, and do so in mass numbers. Numbers so massive, in fact, that entire teams failed to get badges when fighting the banners and GMs even if they were present from start to finish (because their team didn't do enough damage).
Due to the smaller numbers that villains possesses, we were able to get all six badges in one run. We didn't start damaging the banners until around minute thirteen (due to coordination errors), but we still had around a minute left when we took the last banner down (with the GM being an interesting experience, because he, Eochai, spawned next to an Eochai). And we did all that with about twenty-four people.
I've played WoW. I've raided Outland (pre-Wraith). I fought Vashj. A 25-40 equivalent this is not. This is cake. It's just not pound cake.
