as a thread jack, what happens if there's a proc in the attack for psi damage? Does that change anything?

For Defense calculations - No. It still uses the best defense from the primary attack's tags (ie fire/melee).
For Resistance calculations - Yes. Since each Resistance type applies seperately to each damage type component, then a Psi proc would only have it's damage reduced by Psi Resistance even if the fire portion of the attack was reduced by a different fire resistance level.

If your character is fighting in melee and being attacked by a melee fire attack, and your character has 10% defense to fire, and 20% defense to melee, which defense is used to calculate whether or not you get hit?
I hope that question makes sense... I've been wondering about for a while now, but it is mainly just a curiosity.
