Help with my Claws/SR

I can't find an affordable way to reach the softcap, get Physical Perfection and keep both Eviscerate AND Shockwave without sacrificing Lucky.

This toon only has around 70 million but I can transfer over a bit more from others. Obviously, the Steadfast is gonna cost almost half of my inf by itself...

My AOE Def is at 44.2...melee and ranged are at 45.6 and 45.4.

Any suggestions are welcome!

How attached are you to having a travel power? Assuming you absolutely must have one, here's my attempt. I dropped Weave in order to take Lucky. However, you lose 10% global recharge because I had to use Smashing Haymakers.

...And if you can live with just CJ + Hurdle as your travel power, you can try this build. This is the absolute cheapest I could get it while maintaining as many of your set and power choices as I could. It doesn't even use the Steadfast unique, although it's debatable if a full Gaussian set will be any cheaper and the Steadfast is certainly much more slot efficient. You have 8 slots to play with as you wish.

This gets the job done assuming high level enhancements. It has one free power pick in case you want to use a different power pick instead of SJ. It relies heavily on set bonuses and I don't know what it would cost right now, been away for a few months. My claws/sr is at the softcap without the fighting pool, the hardest part for me was finding the slots to get the bonuses.

Going with set bonuses over the Steadfast unique and Weave gives you some more freedom in power picks but pigeon holes you a bit in your slotting options.

Personally, I don't understand why you want evis and shockwave, unless its for concept. If you were going to cycle through all of your attacks, you lose DPS in the long run.

If you are wanting soft cap you need to take out some of those Crushing Impacts and replace them with a mixture of Touch of Death and Mako's Bite which will give you melee and ranged defense. As for area of effect you aren't really going to need to cap that so I wouldn't worry about it.

If you need a specific build I can upload the Claws/SR build that I made for a friend that uses capped melee and ranged defense and it fairly cheap.

One of my favorite things about claws is that I can use the attack most suited to the situation, not one static attack chain. Spin, Evis, and Shockwave can work very effectively when cycled for AoE damage and will put out a good amount of DPS with more than 1 target. When the minions are gone you can switch to a single target attack chain that doesn't make use of the AoE attacks. I have a lot of claws scrappers, I have between 6 and 8 attacks on each depending on concept and availability.

I think too many people focus on damage per second rather than just making a character and enjoying the powers. I personally love Shockwave, and especially Eviscerate. The damage for each power is excellent and shouldn't be skipped by a Claws Scrapper in my opinion.

I don't like the KB in Shockwave. I work too hard to get the group to surround me so I can spin/evis. last thing I want is to have everyone go flying everywhere.

It is good mitigation though, get them away for enough time to trigger heal self, but I haven't had a problem with that in months.

Everyone has seen this at least twice. Here is my claws/SR. softcapped in all 3 with decent regen and recharge.

Ima that's actually a pretty nice build although I personally don't like taking healing pool. Good build never the less. My next project is my Elec/SR which I hope to get to once I get done relevleing my Blaster back to 50.

Here's what you can do with your current build:
Take a slot away from Tough and a slot from Health and put them into Stamina so you can all six pieces of Performance Shifter and get a bonus 3.13% defence(AoE).

Thanks, I had some help tweaking it on this board. I don't like the healing pool either, in fact I have only popped the self heal once in the last 2 weeks. But they do make a good set mule powers. I get regen from the aid other and recharge with a 5 slot doctored.

The boards can be helpful when you are getting information from the right sources. I like how you were able to get the capped area of effect defense. Normally I do not worry about area of effect defense because melee and ranged tend to be the only types that I ever face for the most part. My Elec/SR build has 45% melee, 45.6%, and 39.8% area of effect, but its all done using IOs without any extra toggles and it 70% recharge which I am still working on getting closer to 80%.

Wow...thanks for all of the input guys! I've used a bit from most of your builds to help influence this one. It will be awhile before i can afford it...especially the Touch of Death and Obliterations sets...those are always so expensive as are some of the GSFC set.

This guy is a concept/theme toon but I want him to be functional as well. I've posted about him before...this is my Predator tribute toon...that's why I wanted to keep Shockwave in addition to Eviscerate and why I added LBE and Stealth.

I didn't think it was going to be possible to soft cap for a "reasonable" amount without having Tough/Weave. SO glad to be rid of those...end drainers!

I'm softcapped on Ranged and AOE w/out Stealth but Melee is sitting at 44.1...so...close! Overkill when I turn Stealth on. I already have an Unbounded Leap - Stealth IO so, I figured that mixed w/ Stealth would be very Predator-like hehe

Does this look ok for a functional-tribute toon? I'm open to more suggestions.

Or, I could just do this...I removed Stealth and added Hurdle.

Since I'm not running toggles (except for CJ) thanks to the lack of Stealth, Tough and Weave, I should be able to afford a minor hit on PP slotting. I removed two slots from PP and added one to Dodge and one to CJ. Melee def is now at 45.1 and I still have stealth from my Unbounded Leap IO.

Does this make more sense or is this just insane? I would LOVE to do things WAY differnetly but I just can't afford it at this time.

If you move a slot from Quickness to the Passive Melee def power and 1 from Physical Perfection to CJ you should make the softcap. Only giving up a bit movement speed and some recovery.

Nice, I hadn't ever heard of someone doing a Predator tribute, I'd love to see how it turned out. Screenshots please! Do they have fishnet panty hose for male toons?

The stealth IO isn't as good by itself. You need the stealth power or SS to move around with ease. You can keep the stealth power in at 49. It supressed should still keep you at soft cap. (This is based on you saying you had 44.1 with it turned off) Your claw attacks don't used that much end so you should fine in normal situations. I'm not near mids right now but did you see how much more or less run speed you would get if you put that extra slot on quickness on sprint? I know stealth makes you run slow.

I like the predator concept idea!!! makes me jealous. On Pinnacle there is an Alien concept scrapper running around, looks nice as well.

Remeber that stealth suppresses to half its value while in combat. So if you are going to just achieve softcap with full stealth you will be under in actual combat.

That's funny...I made an Alien the other day too...I deleted him though...made him a Claws/Inv but I didn't want a second Claws toon...even though I'm loving it for my Predator.

Well, I'm not sure how MIDS is treating stealth. I'm sitting at 44.1 melee def...if I select Stealth it bumps up to 47.8. I don't know if it will display the "stealth turned off" setting. I think you're right though...should be fine even with half of the value. I think it will be around 45.95...does that sound about right?

Or I can do what I put in that third build and just put an extra slot in Dodge and CJ...although, I kinda like the idea of having both Stealth and the Stealth IO along w/ Quickness being 2 slotted...kinda breaks even for the speed reduction that Stealth gives ya...

I don't like the idea of extra slots in quickness. Running a little faster when you are plenty fast enough isn't enough to lose a whole slot in. That slot could be used in so many other areas that will bring more then +run to the table.
