thugs or bots for pvp?

Hi all

I'm wondering about something - I'm considering rolling a /pain dom on the red side. But as for a pvpable combo what would be best bots or thugs?

thugs/pain is an easy button. I've seen total noobs make them and kill everyone. They do not require skill and it proves nothing when you kill someone.

Bots/pain takes a bit more skill, it's not as easy as thugs/pains, and i've seen bots/pain die if they didn't know what they were doing.

It all depends if you want respect and a challenge, or possibly a few more recipes and some more rep.

I say screw skill. You PvP to win, not to build up some absurd sense of honour amongst PvPers.

Build what you like, just build to win. I have a Bots/pain and I enjoy her immensely, although I can certainly see the allure of Thugs.

Normally I disagree with your posts tokyo but that was nice.

Sig worthy even.

That doesn't make any sense, considering bots are more survivable than thugs. The real difference is that thugs do more damage, but bots are more survivable. Overall, thugs are better, since paindom is all the survivability you need.

Keep in mind, as a /paindom, you will be basically unkillable by any single player, but it will also be hard to kill people, since it has no offensive capabilities, unlike poison or something.

thanks for the info
I've tested both to 12 (I know not high - but played bots to 36 before) I thought I'd dislike thugs but i actually am starting to love those lil' punks

I'm sorry but i don't consider killing someone with something like a thugs/pain a win. It's more a loss, like...."hey, i couldn't kill you fairly with any of my other toons, so i brought the cheapest one i had."

It's the same as using a heavy to kill someone or teleporting them into an AV and saying you won.

Sure it does, i didn't need to hit my regen heals as much as i would with a thugs/pain, so i could get more attacks in to kill the bots and the MM. There have been plenty of times where i used Build up, Eagles claw, and by the time i usually fit in the 2nd one i had to heal instead because i was going to die, making me miss it.

I kill pain doms all the time with my TP foe blaster. They are just pretty much unkillable against a melee toon. Although i saw a good tactic using quicksand and a bunch of foot stomps.

While that tactic will work in a zone enviroment, I think in an arena setting it would be difficult Even I can kill a Thug/Pain on my Emp/Sonic defender with the TP Foe tactic in RV.

And yet they're in the hospital and you're not.

If you die on a regen scrapper to a single /pain MM, it sounds like you don't really know what you're doing. Tip for the future: don't just jump in the middle of all the pets and stand there for the next 30 seconds while you die.
