Trying to find out what to do

I have some questions about the expansion Going Rogue. I hope someone can answer them for me.

1. Will bases still exist as they are now? I have spent 3 years building my base and it is almost finished the way I want. Are they going to change everything so that all my diligent work done almost completely solo is destroyed?

2. I have heard that tanks and other AT's will be nerfed. Is that so?

3.Are base raids coming back with the expansion?

4.Is Going Rogue a completely different game where I will have to start all over with new toons or can the characters I have now participate.

I know these questions might seem like I am too lazy to look for the answers but really I've had a hard time finding someone to answer them.

Nobody (possibly even the devs) knows the answers to these questions yet. More announcements will be coming, but Going Rogue isn't going into even beta testing anytime soon.

Stay tuned -- there are indications the devs are giving that they have big announcements for Hero Con (in 2 weeks), so at that time a few more pieces of information may surface.

As for your 4th question, Going Rogue is an "expansion", just like CoV was. What we DO know for sure so far is that you can start a new character in Praetoria, or you can use Praetoria to "cross over" your heroes and villains in varying degrees. So what little (VERY little) information we currently have suggests that all characters will be able to participate in GR in some manner.

1. No information, but likely yes. There may be a few tweaks but the base system will remain

2. Given the effort in AT balance recently (stalker buff, dom buff, Defiance 2.0), it is very unlikely anyone will be nerfed to any significant degree

3. No information

4. Existing characters can participate in new content and cross over. New characters can START in Preatoria, but anyone can go there.

I can't say for sure, but what you've probably heard (I've heard similar rumblings) is things like:

"Who would want to invite a tank when you can get a brute?" (because brutes do more damage)

or

"Who would want a defender when you can get a corruptor?"

etc.

Except I hear the same thing for tankers over brutes (more survivable without expensive builds), defenders over corruptors (better buffs/debuffs), etc. So I don't think it will be as big of a deal as people are crying DOOOOM over, kind of like which ATs you have on a team isn't all that important already.

Unlike CoV, though GR will require you own the game.

Will it? I don't believe I've seen that announced anywhere.

Yes, it's been discussed in a few different places. This is an expansion, not an expansialone like CoV was. You need to own the game already to take advantage of Going Rogue.

Q: Do I have to own City of Heroes or City of Villains to be able to play the Going Rogue expansion?

A: Yes.

Well, except for regen...

When COV launched you had to purchase it in order to play on villains. Buying COV allowed you access to the Isles and gave your Heroes access to Villain costume parts.
If I remember correctly you also had to buy it in order to access SG bases.

This was changed when Cryptic sold COX to NCSoft. With the release of the Good Vs Evil edition.

Not quite.

Good Vs Evil was released September 29th, 2006.

NCSoft buys the game November 6th, 2007. Everybody, people who bought the game after the November 2007 grant for current players, finally had access to both games in July 2008.
