Thinking of forming an Ultraman SG on Freedom server. If you have never heard of Ultraman, log off, go to youtube, and just type in Ultraman. Then come back here, hehe. Room for all types, as long as they adhere to the basic Ultraman look,(silverish/red) and type( good guy). Oh, and by the way I have never managed a SG, just looking for any interest.

Re: Power Rangers well, sorta, but this was Before Politically correct, or even racially correct, for that matter. This is about a big good guy vs. a big bad guy. The vids on youtube, like requiem, are almost promo's of the CoH, but they pre-dated it by like 20yrs, I grew up with Ultraman, and he deserves a whole Issue of City ofHeroes, fighting Giant monsters, withall his brothers and sisters. Booyah!

Ultraman predates the Power Rangers by a significant amount of years and as a franchise has been running for over 40 years with many different versions of the iconic character.

In 1996, for the 30th anniversary, Ultraman franchise was revamped and they switched to a new universe (much like the many GUNDAM series) and created Ultraman Tiga. Then came Dyna, Gaia and many others with the majority in their own universe/timelines separate from the rest. Some may mention Nebula M78 where the original hails from or rehash classic monsters like Zetton or the Baltans but they are in their own universe.

In 2006 for the 40th anniversary, they return to the original universe where Ultraman, Ultraman Zoffy (the one that saved original after he was beaten), Ultraseven, Ultraman Jack/New Ultraman, Ultraman Ace, Ultraman Taro, Ultraman Leo, Ultraman 80 and Ultraman Father, Ultra Mother and Ultra King all hail from. The new Ultraman was named Mebius and was a rookie Ultraman with a lot of power that even he didn't know he had who was sent to Earth to defend it from evil. On earth it was peaceful since Ultraman 80 departed by aliens and monsters were returning. Many were rehashes of classics, even Zetton was used. Though sadly the Baltans were not . As the TV series progressed, in theatres came the Ultraman Mebius and Ultrabrothers movie which shows where Original, Seven, Jack and Ace have been and why. The actors that play their human forms all return (yes even Hayata) to counsel the new Ultra and give advice and yes, to transform and fight.

Later in the Mebius series, Taro appears a few times along with Zoffy and Ultra Father lends a hand in an episiode. After that, Ultraman Leo appears to give Mebius and the defense team a verbal and physical kick in their seats to make them realize how serious and important their mission is.

Ultraman 80 appears as they wrap a loose end from his series.
Ultraman Ace appears to aid Mebius against his old foe the Yapool (I'm not making that name up), and to wrap a loose end from his series as well.

Ultraman Jack and Ultraseven appear in episdoes to give advice and assistance.

Then came episode 47......and the one monster that got away from the original Ultraman has now entered the scene. Mephilias (named after Mephistophles) is playing his old mind tricks and Mebius and when they face off for the final fight (which Mebius WOULD have lost), we see Hayata observing the scene then transforming to lend a hand.

The final 3 eps were the three part finale against the ultimate darkness.

Then came the Super 8 Ultra Brothers, yet another alternate Earth that Mebius visits while pursuing a great evil. The main purpose of this movie was to unite for the first time Tiga, Dyna and Gaia with some of the classics, in this case, Original, Seven, Jack and Ace along with Mebius.

There is a another series currently in production, but its yet another alternative universe and another movie which I hear will have whatever current Ultra is around joining with original and Ultraseven.

Great post - I really only watched the original & I also remember one came on in the '90s that I tried watching, but it was just plain bad... (I'm thinking that it was Tiga).

Good to see Hyata made it back into the series.

Yes, Hayata and all othe human hosts have appeared in other Ultra series, also the actor has had a long career outside of Ultra and has returned in other Ultra series as other characters.

As to the one you saw in the 90's, was it set in Austraila, or was the Ultra Red/Blue/Silver with gold shoulder epaulettes?

Or worse yet, was this series entirely in english with an American cast? Did the Ultra have bright blue eyes?

As for Hayata.....in the English dub, when Zoffy came to take him home, he tells Ultraman that he will signal Hayata that Ultra will return and separated them, despite the fact that they needed to be merged for Hayata to live. In the actual version, Zoffy tells Ultra to let Hayata die so that he can come home, Ultra refuses and states he would rather fully give his life to Hayata thus dying himself. Zoffy is impressed by this nobility and states that he actually brought TWO life forces with him and gives one to Hayata. He then separates them. Hayata is a bit confused and seems to not remember things at first but has he watches them fly away it looks like he remembers.

In the third series, Return of Ultraman, Hayata makes a guest appearance and transforms thus showing that he and Ultra are in fact merged again....reasons not stated, but that's ok.

In 1996, as part of the anniversary of Ultra, the original Ultra makes a crossover into an episode of TIGA, Hayata appears in an Ultra-story that was part of a live action Sailor Moon style series episode, and they also used footage from the old series and a new script to make a 40th episode called Revive! Ultraman! which occurs a few weeks after Zetton defeated the original. Hayata and Ultra are recombined but their power and confidence is low. The aliens that defeated him return and he has to suck it up and fight the resurrected monsters using a new trick called Ultra Separation where he replicates himself to fight the various global threats at once. After that Zetton 2 is attacking the base and Ultra is losing, when the science whiz of team reveals a new device that that shoot into Ultra's warning light, a solar energy booster that restores his power and then some. He then easily beats Zetton and flies off.

Silly 420, Freedom already had an Ultraman (sadly I tried to find the video of him being WAY over there, but I couldn't )

We scared him away but good.

He'll probably come back and demand he be put in charge of the SG when he finds out that someone (inadvertently) named it after him. Not to mention the IP/copyright infringement with something like this. At least he didn't have a costume that looked like Ultraman. (That I remember).

No he had his own costume. Its pretty uncanny how closely someone can resemble a toolbox in this game.

I got hooked on Space Giants when WTBS would run it after school. The main problem I had with it was why the kid would bother blowing the whiste one time for Gam or twice for Silvar? If trouble was a brewing just blow the whistle three times for Goldar and he mops up everything.

Yes, that was my main problem, never mind that somehow the 50ft Goldar found a way to conceive with Silvar the normal sized human woman.

My friends and I actually tried to recreate Lugo men scene with army men food coloring and applesauce.

PS Silvar was aight but she was no Electrawoman.
