This is true even though there is an endless well of other movies that I've never seen before. And then there are other movies that I'll watch once, and even if it's pretty good, I might not want to watch it again.
Definitely a better analogy, and one which I think illustrates very well another diffference between arcs and mp3 songs - I too have favourite films in my DVD collection, and even not-so-favorites. Last week i watched all three Pirates of the Caribbean movies. I wouldn't put them in my Top Five Favorite Films of All Time list at all, but they're certainly entertaining enough. The last time I watched any of them, however, was over 6 months ago. And the time before that, probably over 6 months previous to that. How long have I had to play MArcs?

One of my all-time favourite films is Magnolia. I've watched it 4 times so far. I think it's a great film, but i'm not going to watch it more than once a year probably, whereas I might watch brain-candy like a Spiderman movie more than once or even twice a year.

The point is, I might consider film A to be better than film B, but watch film B more often than film A because it's not so demanding. Likewise, the arcs that are easier to play through again and again are possibly likely to be somehow easier in some way to play. Shorter of course is one way.

Eco.

EDIT: I've just noticed the bracketed part in your post, and bolded it for emphasis. Here's maybe an even more important point in specific relation to me - I generally take a whole session of around 4-5 hours to run an arc. I don't know if i'm just being horribly slow or what, but even when I'm not reviewing, RL intrudes a lot, slowing me down.

MArcs:

The Echo, Arc ID 1688 (5mish, easy, drama)
The Audition, Arc ID 221240 (6 mish, complex mech, comedy)
Storming Citadel, Arc ID 379488 (lowbie, 1mish, 10-min timed)

It's like the difference between your own movie collection and getting Netflix. When you're limited to your own personal movie collection, you tend to watch and re-watch your favorite movies. But when the entire library of Netflix is opened up to you, you don't want to waste it on something you've seen before, you want to check out something new.

Since we are spamming this thread with interesting and thoughtful discussion (which I like, don't get me wrong), I decided to consolidate everyone's posted favorites and add it to the Original Post, for ease of use by anyone else who happens across this thread.

@PW - Police Woman (50 AR/dev blaster on Liberty)
TALOS - PW war journal - alternate contact tree using MA story arcs
=VICE= "Give me Liberty, or give me debt!"

In terms of numbers both hero and villain sides combined only have about 800 missions. Last count I heard of playable AE missions was over 20,000, and that was some time back. Not sure of the current number.

So the pure numbers can be overwhelming. It's why a better search system is imperative, including access to favorites or recommended lists, as has been said before. Not sure how likely that is w/ the devs preoccupied w/ the ramp up to GR.

Some of them maybe dozens of times. But for the most part, the PvE content isn't as cool as the best of the AE content. So why do I keep replaying it?
Merits?

Just throwing that out there as it is one of the main reasons all my new lowbies are doing their lowbie arcs instead of AE. For some recipes merits are the only way to get them (either they're too damn expensive or not for sale at all) and TFs can be too inconvenient. On the other hand, I can easily have 50-75 merits by the mid-20s just from running regular canon story arcs.

How about we stop discussing if you must play an arc 3, 4 or 5 times? Point is that you submit an arc that is just real good and you want to share it with everybody you know.

I know I did and do with this one:

ID: 115174
Author: Igor Blimy
Morality: Villainous
Title: Verner von Grun's Extraordianry Extradimensional Excursions

I played it once and got creamed by the baddies. After discussing it with the author, I played it again because it was that good. Then he said, he added the souvenir I and others had demanded. So I jumped the gun and did it again. I even did it later with some pals to show of how much fun this arc was.

The first time I played it, I nearly fell of my chair with laughter. Later plays reduced it to smirks. The author managed to write the already colorful Verner and improved upon what was known and manages to create another endeavor worthy of the antics of Verners original arc.

Let me add another one I consider a must.

ID: 1444
Author: Days
Morality: Heroic
Title: Twisted Tongues
What happens when you mix the Freaks up with an English Professor? One of the best arcs ever. English to put Americans to shame, Freaks to arrest for the xp minded, a touch of Drama plus a nice humorous plot to boot. If you havent played this one. Highly recommended.

Tried this one and didn't find much special about it. Basically all freaks throughout. The idea of understanding their speech patterns is initially cute. Then it lost me when the contact called me an idiot for destroying a destructable object. "Should have just turned of the device..." um, yeah. Then no clear objectives in the last mission. "Just do something, but what..." This one became tedious.
