Power suppression question

Just because I was board I walked up to a CoT madness mage without my Indomitable Will toggled, of the three toggles running only Rise to the Challenge dropped the others where just suppressed.
Wrong word choice aside, this post made me go "wait... what?"

I've missed out on a lot and this is one of the things I never even knew about. I left before ED hit, came back for three months when CoV was out, and just came back again right before i15 hit. I tried searching for power suppression on the wiki, but all I got was PvP travel suppression.

What does it mean for toggles to become suppressed?
How long are they suppressed for?
When was this added to the game (just curious)?
What exactly triggers suppression?
What powers are affected by suppression?

Thanks a lot.

Alright, I have some more questions because it's not completely clear to me. The example on wiki says:

Quote:
For example, a Force Field Defender is hit with a Rikti Mentalist's Mezmerize. The Defender is now sleeping and her Dispersion Bubble is no longer providing her with any defense. It is still providing mez protection and if the Defender is next hit with a Dominate she will not be held. In this situation the Defender's teammates will still benefit from the defense and mez protection so long as they themselves remain un-mezzed.
Is this saying that anyone who is mezzed stops getting all buffs from all sources except for mez protection for the duration of the mez? Are clicky powers like the FF shields suppressed when mezzed?

Let's say I'm in the defender's dispersion bubble and I get hit with a sleep, but the defender's fine. Am I still getting the defense bonus? If not, how does me getting hit with sleep remove the benefit of someone else's toggle?

Something about this just doesn't seem right...

Added a redirect from Power Supression, should help.

Clicky buffs are never supressed.

Due to how the power system is set up, all toggle power benefits other than mez protection and resistance have a "Suppress if player is mezzed" line. This means all toggle buffs will not benefit the player, irregardless of the source.

If you are inside Dispersion Bubble and YOU get mezzed, you will still have the benefit of the defense from the bubble, because the defender is NOT mezzed.

In the reverse situation, if you are inside the bubble and the DEFENDER gets mezzed, you will lose the defense bonus, because Dispersion bubble will be suppressed.

Toggle suppression only applies to your OWN toggles.

Rise to the Challenge de-toggles when mezzed because it has an effect on things other than youself. Any toggle that affects enemies follows the same rules (Death Shroud, Blazing Aura, World of Confusion, Against All Odds, etc.), for some reason Warshade's Orbiting Death is an exception, though I'm not sure why, since it is a damage aura.

So, if a Willpower character is mezzed, RttC will drop, but Indomitable Will, Mind Over Body, and Heightened Senses will remain active. Mind Over Body and Heightened Senses will not be doing anything, but the mez protection and resistance from Indomitble Will will still work (that is to prevent chain mezzes from happening)

If I recall correctly, it is a feature of the PvP changes that was carried over to the PvE game. In PvP if a mez hits it WILL affect you, so they added suppression so characters with a lot of toggles aren't spending all their time turning them back on. The fact that they carried it over to PvE was just a QoL addition.

Orbiting Death gets de-toggled when mezzed, as it should. I just confirmed this on Live but I don't know if it's a recent correction with I16.

That link is out of date - use the ParagonWiki website instead of the Titan Wiki one.

(Notably, I'm talking about the line about PvP toggle suppression, where it states that defense toggles will suppress for all ATs except Tankers, where in reality defense toggles do not suppress for any AT in PvP.)

You do realize that the Titan Wiki and ParagonWiki.com are the same wiki? check the history of that page and notice they're exactly the same

What's next, you are going to tell me that boards.cityofheroes.com and boards.cityofvillains.com are the same website? I hope not, would cut my browsing in half...

Actually, no. The wiki that is out of date and no longer updated by this community is the Wikia one.

Are you sure this is right? I remember a dev explaining it worked the other way around because they couldn't get an effect to suppress based on another players status without de-toggling it.

You should get the Mez protection benefit, but nothing else - that's how I recall it too, for the same reason.
