Offer for newly forming small RP SGs - Paragon Universe
I wanted to chime in as a member of the Paragon Universe..
In addition for being a great place to set up your own SG within an SG.. we also have two days where people can join in on already established RP nights.
Wednesday night belongs to our group, STORM.
And I run our Thursday nights as leader of our mystical team called Incognitus. We meet at 8pm central every Thursday night at the Midnighters Club in Steel Canyon. From there, we go off to handle whatever the mystical threat of the week is. Feel free to come out and see how things are for yourself.
@Arch Mage
You know, I always wanted to do something like this. Good luck on this venture! It's a fantastic idea.
Thanks for the well-wishes, Joe! It's been going pretty darn well for the last year and a half! If you'd ever like to join us, let us know!
Awesome concept you have there. I might be needing a home for my I16 hero (cause my normal SG is kind of empty right now ) and looking at your site I think I may have found it.
Should I contact you all on your site now or wait until I16 rolls out and I have the hero up and running?
Definitely come on by, Psychodad! We can get to know you so you'll be good to go first thing when i16 launches!
Great idea!
Like Underworld? Then take a look at! http://moonid.net/account/recruitmen.../monstersgame/
And don't forget to join the fight for our City! http://www.cohtitan.com/forum/index....ard,134.0.html
I was contacted by one of the PU officials a long time ago, about a coalition with Alpha Squad many moons ago.
Then, shortly after the invitation, my work exploded with a new massive project, and I got sucked into the vortex of 80-hour work weeks. So I never followed up.
And then Alpha Squad died with my lack of attention and workaholic tendencies.
Now that I'm back and Alpha Squad is smaller, less time-consuming. I can finally take you guys up on your offer. I'll get in touch with your group and see what we can arrange. We only have four active members, but we group together frequently, and could really use PU to extend some teams to a full-8.
Thanks for the good work you do, , helping roleplayers find others to play with!
Fantastic, ChaosRed! We'd be happy to have you in the fold! I know you do great work over in the Supreme Society redside!
Well...my main (Loony!) is in search of an active SG. You ideas intrigue me, and would like to subscribe to your newsletter...
The Cape Radio - You're not super until you put on The Cape!
Thanks! Although for my money I wouldn't call it great work. I'd calling it "noodling", like some sloppy guitar solo from Ace Frehley. Neat special effects though, but not a whole lot of talent there.
Sorry, every day I must put a KISS reference into a random online forum, it is a disease worse than H1N1.
Look forward to contacting you, thanks for making room for me.
ChaosRed its good to see you around man in case you don't remember me (Sirius Snow)
anywho looking forward to seeing you around as I too just join The P-Uni and really like what I have seen thus far
I very much recommend Paragon Universe the people I have met so far are friendly as all get out and laid back, two things I have been looking for,oh yeah active as well.
TristynD: Great to meet you yesterday! And thanks for the great referrals!
Loony: I'm looking forward to meeting you in person!
ChaosRed: Noodle away, my friend!
And welcome to the land of i16! I'm thinking of starting up a 'Science Hero Family' subteam within the Paragon Universe with my new rad blaster Prof. Paragon as the pater familias. It'd be sort of like Astro City's Furst Family (which is in turn kind of like Marvel's Fantastic Four, but better). Every week, we'd go on some crazy adventure into the bowels of the earth to battle rockmen, explore abandoned space stations, or pop over into another dimension to say hello. Direct relations wouldn't be necessary - son-in-laws, childhood friends, etc. Just enough to give it a family feel with the tensions that it would imply. Enough to differentiate the Science Family from the Tech Team of STORM. I just haven't come up with a name for it yet!
Thanks DQ my pleasure in helping in any way I can.By the by I had a blast last night, everyone was full of awesome. And I like your idea of a Science family...but what would a super Science family be without thier faithful robot!!
Hurry up patch electric scrapper robot must..be..created.
I like the Science family idea. I wouldn't mind playing the bodyguard/friend (more Brock Sampson than the Thing)
Got a name idea though.. Paragon's Pride (got the double first letter use and the family reference making you the Lion King)
Great to see some more quality people already joining with us!
Nice to meet a few last night!
If you're thinking about it... come on over!
I've been less active than I'd like to be lately, but we all know how that can go sometimes... The biggest thing is I love the quality of players and the great mature people we have in our SG.
And Chaos... I've been pretty convinced we'd get along fabulously. And besides that, I think you and the whole PU should be a great fit.
I tried to get you to make Alpha Squad a subteam of the PU originally, hehe
Anyways... The Science team sounds very interesting! I've been thinking about a FF type of team for a long while. Not sure that I'll actually whip anyone up for that...
I'll probably be keeping my focus on EK (An Independent within the PU)! And that dastardly Malfaz's involvement (See crazy guy in my avatar) should be wrapping up soon!
We're all about In-Character interaction, ongoing friendships/relationships/stories/mysteries, we have some great writers on our forums (We tell stories, cover events that have happened and set things up that will be happening), Easy-going (No AT pigeon-holing or major concerns... we want everyone to have fun, nothing else), AE writers, spontaneous, plotted and mixed bags of RP, action and everything in-between... A great base for RPing with full functionality... As well as a heap of friendliness OOCly and a lot of willingness to help people with whatever they may want to get up to.
I hope it doesn't sound like I'm selling... because I don't need to one bit. I'm happy with what we've got! However, I just figure there are others out there who'd like it just as much... So, I feel obligated to let you know!
and round up everyone that knows more than they do"-Dylan
I remember your great message to me EK many months ago, my apologies it arrived at a time when I could not act upon it. I will contact one of your group tonight and set up the coalition.
And I agree, that I love AE for RP! For all the angst the farming exploits AE created, I still think its the best RP tool to arrive in any game in a while. A group of four of us just completed a 3-mission arc last night. The story was deeply personal, catered exclusively to us, and was meant for just the four of us. It was awesome, it felt like we were living a 3-issue series of a comic book story-arc.
We'd stop after each chapter (we separated each part of the story into its own mission to do this), and role-played in between, basically "setting up" the next mission. It was, too much fun.
I'd kill for a fantasy-based game to have the same tool. I find AE can take RP stories in a whole new bold and fun direction. I hope they continue to augment and improve the tool, people grouse about it (for legitimate reasons), but overall, I love it.
Shucks, ChaosRed, I was secretly hoping all of Alpha Squad was going to join the PU. I'll happily settle for a coalition!
Recla and Trystin: Paragon's Pride has a nice ring to it! And Brock Sampson is great. And I love the robot idea. I guess it's actually going to happen! Now we need some nieces and nephews and cousins who accidentally got super-powers from being too close to one of Prof. Paragon's experiments. . .
I think a coalition works best for us. I see it as a resource to help one another "fill gaps" when RP or missions need plugging in, as you described earlier in the thread.
We're a pretty insular group, and tightly knit. We attempted to grow beyond that for a while, but I failed on that front, when I realized I am too casual a player and too committed a work-a-holic at times to pull it off. So the players on the fringes of our group, will be encouraged to join you directly if they need more time, attention and commitment, and I'm sure many of them will take you up on that offer
Our core 4 or 5 members though, will stick with what we have. We're pretty invested in each other's stories and we like the smaller scope, we find it helps us manage the stories and ensure everyone gets equal attention and spotlight.
I hope that will work, but I will understand if it does not.
If we want to cross-pollinate a story or character or two, as times goes on, so much the better. But I like small careful steps, mostly because I know I am too flighty and inconsistent with my play to commit to much more.
Hello there.....The name is Zeth Blaze and I am the leader of The Infitiy Watch ( watch is made up of me and my Alts). I would like to know more about this Pargon Universe you got going on. I will be on tonight around midnight (central time). Hope to talk to one of you then.
ChaosRed: No, no, that's totally fine! I was just teasing you!
Zeth Blaze: Fantastic! I won't be online then (I've an early day tomorrow), but if you join the Paragon Universe OOC channel, you'll likely find other fine PUers on!
By the way, tonight's another 'event' night. It's STORM's weekly briefing in the Citadel which is usually followed by going out and roleplaying some missions. STORM isn't exclusive at all, so anyone can come along. And if we can't ICly work you into the base, then you can ICly meet us 'on the scene'! If you want to get a feel for what kind of RP we do in STORM, this is a great chance! It starts at 9:15 pm EDT, and Gravartol / Fire Scyth is the team leader. Just hop on the Paragon Universe global channel to get connected, or /tell me at @dark quill . I'll be on a bit early in case new folks need orienting/recruited/whatever.
I will be on tonight around 10-12pm central time and play till around 4-5am. I will try to find some of you, but if I can not plz look for me. Zeth Blaze.........Global is John Hummel
Are you forming a new roleplay supergroup? The Paragon Universe can help!
Paragon Universe is the OOC name of a blueside supergroup. Lots of solo heroes and several small teams all share a base (The Citadel) and a communications channel (IC /sg). And we're always looking for new teams to come share our resources with us!
Generally, if you're making a small SG, you're stuck with your own small base and making a coalition with a more established SG who has the telepads and base facilities that you want.
<Dramatic Voiceover>
But if you roll yourselves into the Paragon Universe, you get:
(1) To keep your own identity! Your leadership stays your leadership.
(2) When your attendance is a little too low, just call on the other residents of the Citadel! There's no need to form a vague coalition where not everyone can hear everyone else. The other heroes in the Citadel share your channel and can answer your calls for help.
(3) A semi-public place to roleplay. The Citadel has been fully furnished to accomodate the arcane, the technological, and the casual. Your team can meet in a variety of environments, from hi-tech briefing rooms to mystical libraries to starlit gardens to fireplace seating in a sumptuous lounge. If Pocket D isn't for you, the Citadel probably is!
(4) Two forums on our paid guildportal.com site -- one for OOC and one for RP
(5) A tab to present your history and recruiting information on our guildportal site.
(6) Full and appropriate permissions within the SG. If your newest recruit has broken your rules, then yes, you can kick them out.
(7) A backup plan. Let's face it, not all small supergroups last. Players lose interest in characters or games. Sometimes you're the only one left in an empty base. Well, if you're in the Paragon Universe, your character has already become established as part of a larger social structure. Your team may have dissolved, but you're still closely linked to lots of heroes with several weekly roleplay events!
