Working on New Planner - Suggestions?

So yeah, I've started working on an updated planner to finally replace the Issue 9 compatible version. I've already got a bunch of new features and changed a lot of functionality to try and make it easier to use.

I'd like to try and get some ideas of what you all would like to see in this planner. I'd like to try and avoid the whole "show me numbers!" suggestions though, since while that may or may not be in the new version, it will never, ever, ever be as intensive as Mids. If you want that stuff, use Mids! I do know that you guys want at least some of that, and you'll probably get it, so let's move on!

So if there was some other kind of feature you've always wanted, or something about using my old one that really bugged you (besides it being horribly out of date and ugly as sin), I'd love to hear it!

And as a note for Voo - I've already got a feature that may actually make him want to use it

Anyhow, I like the planner from before, but haven't used in a while. So I am not sure how much has changed. I would prefer a "respec mode". As I recall, you would use powers and add slot, just like you are leveling. But for my use, I was rearrange builds from 50's and use to the respec format (pick powers, then slots after). Could be a pain to have such a feature.

The old version supports that kind of a mode. You can select your powers from 1-50, and then add slots. It was fairly free-form in that regard.

The new version takes it a few steps further though in terms of flexibility

I'm new, so I'm sorry if this isn't already an ability of the current Suckerpunch's online planner. Is there a way to export a build to save it, and then import the build at a later date so you can tweak it? If not, I would like to request that if it is not too difficult of a feature to implement. I however, am not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, and am perfectly fine to see it updated.

That was part of the last one, Aramina.

Also, as long as it's color-blind friendly, I'm good.

I wanted to get you to check it out the other day. Remind me in IRC and I'll give you the link.

Thanks Pol. Maybe I forgot about the older version. Will look for the new version.

Yeah, don't even bother with the old one. It's garbage.

Power order is still all sorts of messed up.

I use to use yours all the time until you broke my heart. Then it was just too painful and emotionally draining to be reminded of what use to be.

So unless the feature is a remotely-shock-Pol-in-his-west Miami-bungalow-whenever-I-want-to........I dunno.

I've already forgotten about most of you

Never did, thank god.

Ok, I don't have all the features in that I want yet, but the core functionality should be pretty usable at this point. I'd like to get some folks in and testing to make sure everything is hunky-dory. Send me a PM here if you're interested in tinkering around and looking for any major bugs that would prevent me from letting more people use it.

With I16 probably coming out this week, I'd like to release it either before or in tandem with it, so finding and squishing the major bugs quickly is a big priority for me.

Does it support branching for heats and veats?
Might be nice to see a before and after 24 plan for the latter...

HEATs?

And if you're asking if you can choose Bane/Crab or Fortunata/Widow, then the answer is yes.

lol...what does the v in veat stand for...?
As for my suggestion, sure, you can choose to plan out a night widow or Fortunata, but until you reach 24, it does you no good. It might be nice to be able to toggle between what you have to pick the first time, and then what it will look like after you respec at 24. Just a thought.

Well I mean, I knew what a HEAT would be (Kheldians), but they don't necessarily branch really. Yeah, their forms stuff is in though.

As for VEAT branching, the way I intend to let you save builds kind of satisfies that in a way I hope people agree with me.

Basically, you'll have a list of "Characters", and then you can assign builds to them, so one character could have many builds associated with it.

The way VEAT selection works is, you can pick from the 3 primaries, so like Wolf Spider, Bane, or Crab, and select powers from each. If you choose Bane or Crab, you see the Wolf powers in addition to the branched powers (like it is in-game).

So I guess the final result would be - You could make a "VEAT" character, and then assign a pre-24, non-specialized build to him, and also assign a post-24 specialized build, and toggle between the two.

I haven't figured out all the details on how to easily view / toggle multiple builds, but it's definitely the goal.

Does any of that make sense?
