Dragon*Con... We missed you NCNC!
Amazingly, it wasn't really coordinated... we Infinities just kinda like the back of the bus/class/forum/panel. And I'm sorry, but I couldn't let the pint-sized, pigtailed person from Victory/Virtue dominate the panel. Way too many openings for one-liners.
Also, a WARM shout out to the OTHER tall and loud Infinitie who made my awesome panel sign: "Lvl 1 Scrapper LFT AE Team" Went perfect with me having my sword there. |

I enjoyed the Con .. it was a Blast.
Like so many on this thread have stated before, it's time that the East Coast was shown a little love. The panel was great and everyone there had fun, but it would have rocked if we'd had an "Official Representative" to grill. I realize that PAX demands more attention, however it shouldn't be too hard to grab all those attendee's and have them draw a lottery and send the winner to us. They'll be treated well .... we promise!! I'd like to Thank the Infinity group in back for providing a little spice to the proceedings ... you guys were a Hoot! And a quick apology to the tall, loud Infinity fellow who sat next to me and tried to get me to talk. It sucks to be "Eat Up" with shyness .... Thanks for the effort. |
Oh and for the poster who asked, I was "short dude with the hair"...though there was only one of us wearing a CoV shirt. I was that guy too.
Still am that guy, in fact...

*chuckles* The pigtailed person was Naienko, a longtime forum poster here. I remembered her from the last CoH panel I went to -- she is quite the memorable lady

Yeah, R.J.'s signs were a bit of inspired genius. Too bad the folks up front couldn't see the fun we were having.

I know people at least halfway up did. Naienko saw the sign, I know that. Not sure anyone past her noticed them though.

Dear Devs,
I would like to say that I am thouroughly upset that you could not have seen you way clear to join your loyalist fans at D*C this year. I would like to point out that you had the whole gambit of players there. Top 20 Sg's from our server (infinity) as well as top 20's from other servers as well. You had Noobs, AE babies, Pvp'rs and farmers all in the same room. Now I'm sure that you all would have made you way there if the playerbase called for it. I'm willing to bet that as it was pointed out in the room that the reason you all didn't come is because Castle nerfed Flight. Bearing that in mind as our entire sg will be there next year have our pre reg done, and hotel rooms booked maybe you might consider a panel for us. Even then you might not give us the brush off and send us the right stuff next year. Now if you need to know the dates, they will be Spet 3-6 2010. You better hurry- Only 3 more D*C events before the world ends.
Sincerely,
A Disappointed Player
PS I have pix of the standing room only venue you missed. I would also like to point out that I knew last year that we would have a fair number of people and that there would be a panel this year. I sent a PM on the board to BAB's who graciously sent me back a nice response. BAB's advised me to send a note to Navine. I sent several and heard nothing in return. So long and thanks for all the fish I guess.
SEERS UNTIE! INFINITY RULEZ! My entire SG was the rowdy bunch in the back for the record. Yes, I'm still an addict.

Maybe if I'm memorable enough, the devs will send someone just to see what all the fuss is about? XP
Srsly, at this point, with having their own con and all, I'm surprised Paragon Studios couldn't see their way to sending even one of the new folk they've got. Sure, we'd love to have BaBs (can you IMAGINE introducing him to, say, the Dawn costume contest?) or Castle or someone whose name we recognise, but anyone armed with info and swag (just a little swag, okay) would be lovely.
I /still/ want Paragon to make the tshirt artist shirts available for everyone, not just send a few to the winner!

I was the guy at the front of the room wearing the top hat and long coat with my SG Gears symbol on my lapel.
My suggestion is for everyone on this thread is to contact the director of the MMORPG track at Dragon*Con and let that person know you support the idea of more COH programming.
There has been the suggestion of a costume contest and/or a "Super Heroes Masked Ball." If you like that idea, send the track director email so they can in turn show it to their higher powers and work on getting something scheduled.
By presenting definate obtainable ideas of what we would like to see, we can help the folks at Dragon*Con create events that we want to be at.

and oh yeah, there is another thread about this over at:

Hey hey, I was there too. Goggles and Oregon Trail T-shirt, over by the wall. I also briefly met Naienko over at the blood drive. Small world!
I never got a chance to raise this point, but one can't help but notice just how many superhero costumers were running around Dragon*con. I've got a photo of five Supermen all standing around shooting the breeze. And yet, none of these guys were at the panel, and I'd wager they didn't show up for DC Online or Champions either. There's some market you guys could be tapping here if you showed up and sold yourselves hard.
Also, seriously, Guild Wars stuff? You could at least send swag for the right game.

Hey, yanno, the guy who started http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=129105 IS the director for the DC*MMO Track!
|
I thought Brick was our panel moderator. Howdy! Anyway, I still advocate the idea of writing to Dragon*Con staff because Dragon*Con is a separate entity from COH and the emails that go there are more appropriate to be shown to the powers that be when fighting for our cause. We want the folks in Atlanta to know we appreciate their blood sweat and tears and we shouldn't make them have to hunt for kudos here in COH forums.
And sometimes it just about that - saying thank you - whether or not anything comes of it. If you had a good time and appreciate it then say so. If you didn't have a good time there is no way any one can know to fix it if you don't tell them politely.
Impatience is also a virtue, but I play on VICTORY.
Sad. . but true.
I do realize that DragonCon isn't billed as a 'gamer con', but given how large it is, and what a wide variety of people go to DragonCon, they wouldn't exactly be pissing money away. I don't go to DragonCon for gaming, but I am more interested in checking out panels for games I don't know about or play (especially MMOs) if I know official reps are going to be there.
And honestly, if planned properly, PAX and DragonCon can actually be washes for prices. How do I know? My brother goes to PAX, and I go to DragonCon. I'm better at finding deals, so despite the fact I'm traveling further I usually come out with similar or cheaper travel and lodging stay costs. Ez majeek.
Despite lack of dev/marketing/mail boy representation, it was actually a very enjoyable panel, and am definitely planning on going next year.
