Adventures in Backwards Marketeering - Finale

So, after a few other little moments of playing around that aren't worth detailing, I was left with 218 million influence from my adventures. Considering that I started my adventures with roughly 300 million, and I was TRYING to lose money, I think I did horribly! I can't believe I have so much money left!

So, I figured, "what the hay, let's go after the big fish in the pond, why not?" My target? The infamous....

So, what will I do with this most well known of common salvage mishaps? Well, I've decided to blow all my money away (reasonably) buying up all the stock I can and selling them for 1 influence each, thus letting the people that want to buy them, buy them for cheaper than what people are trying to sell them for!

I will once again become....

The Facilitator!

I should really make that into a character sometime, hmmm...

Anyways, so let's take a look at the Before screenshot, both of my influence store and the stock of Luck Charms:

218 million vs. 500 Luck Charms? Should be pretty simple, no?

Well, doing my incremental purchases, let's see what we've got for sale:

Luck Charms Bought For:
Code:
80K 1
90K 0
100K 55
Hmmm..... 100K seems to be one of the "magic numbers" that a lot of people like to use. But I've got plenty of money, let's keep going!

Code:
125K 6
150K 410
WOW! Almost ALL of the luck Charms were sitting at 150K! This is either the community standard selling price, or one guy with a nefarious plan!

Let's see how high I can go before I run out of money, shall I?

Code:
200K 13
Nothing up to 1 million!

Code:
1 mil 5
2 mil 5
3 mil 10 (but not 11!)
4 mil 0
5 mil 12 (but not 13)
6 mil (none)
So I'm out of money trying to buy sets of 10, as that was my limit. I promised myself if I couldn't ATTEMPT to buy in sets of 10, I wouldn't buy at all, so it looks like I'll have 60 million left.

So, in the end, it looks like the hugest bulk of them were being sold for 150K... interesting. If you chart this, I think you'd see a normal bell curve, just looking at the numbers.

Well, let's see what people want to BUY them for!

So I put them all up for sale for 1 influence each, and here's the result:

Sold For:
Code:
40K 220
35,555 309
Whoah..... 40K I can understand, that's a nice round number.... but the bulk of buyers wanting to buy them for exactly 35,555 influence? I smell something fishy here!

Any of you want to fess up, you eeeeebil marketeers you?

Anyways, so I've done what I can, and here is the final result, call it the After picture:

Down to 60 mil, and I've "facilitated" the flushing out of 500-ish Luck Charms out of the market. I gave the buyers what they wanted, and the sellers what THEY wanted. AND, most importantly, I got what I wanted, the chance to blow money and have fun doing it.

So that's the end of my Adventures in Backwards Marketeering, now I'm just a poor bloke just like everyone else, and man does it feel GOOD!

For 60M you can get a nice purple pet damage IO...

total kick to the gut

This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.

I'm on a scrapper.... besides, I don't give a damn about purples or sets even. I'm just fine with my common IOs.

Holy moley it's been a long time since I looked at the bids and selling of luck charms. Over 7000 bids? Really? When it's so easy to just run pretty any mission in AE and then roll for the lowest tier arcane salvage till you get what you need?

I'm guessing alot of those are bids from hopeful flippers.

I must confess that is a number that I use to purchase a lot of salvage.
